Now that Alan and I have finally completed out Electrowatt, a new project had to start to keep us busy this winter....
We are going to clone this beauty and build it in 6mm DEPRON..

Sanj need your good wishes Guru Jee...

Allan found the plans here;

Also at DB Sport & Scale website, they have a 56 inch span version, which weighs about 2 to 2.5kg, and the electric version flys on 4s 4500mA hr so ours should be about the same. (hopefully)

Good luck Dee

It's a beautiful flier, very stable

I built one in Corro a couple of years ago, still going strong! I used the Great Planes plans, even the Veron plans are good

Have a look: http://www.rcindia.org/gas-glow-nitro-planes/new-build-piper-cherokee-40-sport-scale-for-2015-sweepstakes/

Thank you Sanj. As usual you are the champ when it comes to Corro. Will go through your post for ideas.

We started ours today.
My original Cherokee is 64inch span with 12 inch cord. Length from spinner to tail end approx 55 inches. Fus from bulk head to fin end approx 50 inches
I guess this is going to be the biggest plane we have built so far.
Couldn't be bothered to go out and buy Corro so we are going to build it in Depron 6mm.

Went through your build and was surprised why I could not remember it despite commenting on it.
Must say it was a master build at lightening speed.

Thanks once again for the link. It will be very useful for us.
I like the idea of using one PCs carbon fibre undercarriage instead of single wheel in each wing. We were actually debating whether Depron wings will be strong enough for fixing undercarriage.  That's the undercarriage sorted.  What about the nose wheel? Is your fixed or moveable ?

Some images of the build as it is now nearly finished.

Constructed mostly from 6mm Depron, balsa strengthened and  some  lite ply in the fus and 3mm Depron at wings

Fuselage ; Depron sheet 6mm thick lined at stress points with balsa sheet. Firewall, battery tray and wing screw retainers etc in lite ply. Finished with packaging tape in white.

Wing;Ribs from 6mm Depron and balsa. Undercarriage mounting plates in 3mm lite ply. 3mm Depron covering finished with packaging tape.

Spars; spruce. Trailing and Leading edges; hard balsa.

I wanted to use a carbon fibre undercarriage but Allan insisted we have to have the piano wire like the original one... It turned out to be a bit extra work but well worth it.
