While cutting the HD thermacole sheets i came across a very thin sheet 1/2 done in aerofoil... so though of making a DLG glider....

Its a try since for thin thermacole its tough to get strength. Lets see the results....

Forgot the pic with Paper.

Hello VC.... I am not sure whether i would be able to complete these or not...... got Holi leaves so used 2 days on the hobby.

No plans for DLG glider... seen it in real, a Japanese guy came to the field with the same.... he was a pro flyer.

Will cover the wings with Paper have  put a bamboo skewer as a strengthener... like you i am also in need to carbon rods.... but they are too expensive to buy from HK.... did you get your hands on some?

L'enfant Terrible du RCIndia

RCD expecting stocks within a week. Am also expecting 'paid for' samples from 2 dozen Chinese suppliers within this month.

I have some 10 mm FG tubes sitting around. Was wanting to make a Pod and Tube Fuse DLG out of them (fuselage) using blue styrofoam (pod), foam core board (wings) and balsa (pod reinforcements/sides and tail palne/stab). Any ideas?

Hello All,
Update of today...
No access to Fiber cloth and Epoxy... so using local material for considerable strength....
Bandage and fevicol.... Roll Eyes then a white paper to have some decals.

Jayant i have been longing for carbon fiber rods and tubes but are 2 expensive to buy from HK ...i am using very thin bamboo as spar for 4 mm thick wings. then fevicol sol. to coat over for max possible strength... with available resources.
plan to put a small motor as its not that strong to throw!!!! with wing tip.

Today's update: cut the rudder and trimmed elevator and identified the wooden stick for the fuse spar.

Hello All,

Hobby don't die easily. After the wing broke in trying to it keep safe for months, the urge to make a HLG ( hand launch glider) diminished but did not die off.

Then when i came across a HLG plane pictures called WHIPIT. I planned to make one again.

So here it is ...

28 Inch Wing span
Hisky Buzz Brick ( which has rx and servos all on one pcb)
AUW 70 Grms  ( planned to be 45 Grms but had to add additional weight to balance the CG
POD is made of thermalcol and used Fibre glass cloth for extra strength.

After 2-3 tries and breaking the wing once I could get it flying. I get 15-20 sec flight with hand throw.

Any suggestions.... you are welcome.

Hello Rc Modellers,

Why not use quad for launching the Glider.

With this idea in mind & thinking for few days  today I was able to implement it supported by Harshit and Rakesh @ our favorite Sec29.

One transmitter ...... One Quad ( Rx1) ....... One DLG ( Rx2)  both Scratch builds.  Grin

Used quad to take up the DLG release it via servo mechanism through one channel.
Post release of glider switch to return to home ( Naza lite FC)  for quad to safely land back while I enjoyed the DLG flying.

It was too windy to get the feel but will try again on a calm day.
