Title: Easy Glider Pro with removable tail
Post by: SunLikeStar on September 27, 2011, 08:39:56 PM
Bought this easy glider from RCDhamaka a few months ago but never got the time to build it. More over I wanted this one to be portable enough to be carried in a flight cabin. Decided to go with a removable tail, total build time around 3 hours. Have test flown this already, the tail is rock solid.

1. Vertical stab with two 5mm CF tubes  (must keep them absolutely parallel), cutout for elevator was enlarged for easy assembly.
2. Small nuts glued using CA but now I’ve reinforced them with 24hour epoxy.
3. Horizontal stab with hole for the CF tubes.
4. Horizontal stab holes reinforced with pieces of ball-pen. Also carved out some foam and glued a 5mm cf tube for strength.

1. The tail put together.
2. Carved out some foam from tail boom and glued ball pen tubes to act as guides for the CF tubes.
3. Reroute rx antenna tube.
4. Completed tail boom.

1. Took apart the hinge by cutting out the hinge pin. Made a removable hinge pin out of steel pushrod.
2. Final result.

Does tail section become heavy?
What about it's CG ?
And is wing need to be or shifted little backward to counteract wit shifting CG

Thanks Atul :D

Kalyanprodhan, its still nose heavy. Easyglider come with two metal ballast ball which you are supposed to put in the tail section to balance it. I thought with all the mod it wont require the ballast. But its still nose heavy so i'm gonna put one ballast in. Later i'm planning to move the servos to the tail.

SLS, each time you dismantle the tail, the servo linkages also get disturbed, how do you plan to address the issue of centering and trimming?

Planning to move the servos to the tail. Will embed rudder servo in vertical stab and elevator servo in horizontal stab
However its still not much of a problem for me, as i don't plan to remove the tail every time i go flying. The main purpose of the removable tail for me is it'll be much more convenient to take the plane with me when i travel to a different city, which i do a lot.

Update on power setup: on my first run I was using TR 35-36C 1100kv motor (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=3886) with this 10x6 prop (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7845). The power output was totally disappointing, anything more than a 20 degree climb would stall the plane. Now this weekend I ran the same motor with TGS prop of the same size (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__7983__TGS_10x6F_Precision_Folding_propeller_.html) and to my surprise the power increased dramatically. Now it just takes off out of the hand and i get a vertical climb for ~200 feet, you can speck it out on a less than one minute of motor run. I'm still using the same spinner which is 40mm but ideally this plane requires a 55mm spinner. Will check with RCDhamaka and get this fixed.
In pictures: simple color scheme, under side is blue stripes with red tips, top with multiplex decals, red vertical stab and a happy owner :)

Ps:The red vertical stab is proving to be most helpful for orientation.

Thanks AshJR7202  its so much fun to fly and thermals like magic, have mixed the ailerons to work as flaps also for slower landings. I'm also planning to add landing skids, will update here.
I think Atul has a video of the maiden (without decals and prop upgrade), will try to get that or may be a new video.

Its cuts through air very easily and slows down only if you have some head wind, but like you said they are mostly for fun :)
We fly at pancard club in Baner area; let me know when you get here

Landing skids, working great; weight 24 grams.

Title: Easy Glider Pro spinner
Post by: SunLikeStar on October 17, 2011, 07:22:09 PM
Got the spinner from RCDhamak last weekend; delevered in less than 24hrs of ordering {:)}
Very happy with a flush fitting spinner; significant reduction in drag and also some weight saving. The power has also improved as the hub is wider (60mm) and has increased the prop diameter by 20mm.
If someone comes out looking; the item number for the multiplex spinner with adapter for 4mm shaft is 733500.
The motor still running cold so thinking about putting in a 11x6 on it.

Took the glider to Nagpur for one week Diwali vacation. The glider was packed in its original box with ample of space left for some tools. Batteries, charger and TX in suitcase. All checked in, no questions asked except are the batteries connected to something.
Had a blast flying in Nagpur. Have some videos, will post after censoring explicit audio ;D
In the mean time here's a demo of my landing skid.

Small world man!! I live near seminary hills but drove to kanhan almost every day as some of my best pals live there. Most of the flying was on a under construction highway in kanhan; i even managed to do some slope soaring at KOCM (kamptee open cast coal mine) :)
In nagpur i generaly fly near center point school at katol road.
