Last year during lockdown, my daughter and I scratch built an electric control line model. It is a standard half A beginners model, plans from outerzone, no landing gear, hand launch and belly landing.

Made of 6 mm foam with carbon rods on the wing and fuse. Using a 3s, 45 C , 800 mah with a electric timer that runs the motor flat out till the last 5 seconds when it decelerates.  Standard half A prop, 6 by 3. Was so happy with it that I have built a Peacemaker but having challenges for Lipo mount and the CG. Want the CG at the thrust line, not way down the fuse. Have to work on that, Any ideas are welcome as Peacemaker has a very short nose.

Here is CL flying of the half A model on a 30 foot line with about 5 seconds per lap. Time was set at 1 minute as I had to get used to or get rid of the vertigo.

Using a Dacron line?

Yeah! that would be a classic way to fly with the Dacron line. Here I am using commonly available 30 pound fishing line.

Interesting!!! Simplistic flying is back again

Rahul, I agree that it is a simplistic type of flying. But just like any other model flying, control line flying is as challenging unless the goal was to take off and just go round and round.

In control line flying to do stunts like the hour glass, overhead eights, etc. smoothly and with finesse has its own challenges.   All I can do now is a nice loop and a wing over. There is no expo here. So, Miles and miles to go for me.

Last year my first accomplishment  was to get used to going round in circles without a vertigo. So settled on a 5 second lap time.

Totally. C/L flying has it's own thrills, and can represent a very, very level of aeromodelling

My initial flying days were chuck, FF, and then CL.. in-fact my  last CL was a peacemaker... 🙂.. enjoyed every moment.. glad to see it back.. maybe that would be the only type flying given the new drone rules☺️
