Title: Electric Medicine Man build completion and propulsion advise sought
Post by: Losthorizonmba on July 03, 2013, 02:54:17 PM
Greetings Gentlemen,
So my brother had left behind plans for the very old school built-up balsa and tissue 60" Medicine Man glider that I have been building these past couple of weeks using whatever balsa that hasn't warped, cracked, mould, etc.

The lads from the Dutch forum have made a few and posted inspiring videos

I posted the build log on their forum (wingsoverk2) as I needed their advise.

Needless to say google translator plays funny tricks now and then. I'll be posting the remainder of the build here concurrently. It's a fairly cheap, quick, and easy build, plans are instructions are freely available as is wealth of building information and support.

Arjan from the Netherlands (that's his video of MM with onboard camera) has advised: "For power; a 1600mAh is quite a lot. You cpuld use 1000mAh instead.  A 40 to 50 grams motor with a kv of around 1200 to 1400 should work since you can only use a small prop. A motor in the nose would be the better option as this does not add weight (you need the weight in the nose to get the balance right anyway, yet a pylon motor sits on the CG and only adds weight without helping balance). With a nose-mount motor aim for a kv of around 1000 spinning a larger prop."

HK is really inconsistent with deliveries to Sikkim and my full RC gear is still on its way here from my previous continent of domicile. I'm really not familiar with lower power systems. Same goes with the LHS or their brands of motors, ESC, UBECs, chargers, balancers, Lipos. Would appreciate your advise on best one-stop LHS to get the propulsion.

It's been raining here day and night but I'm headed to the slopes the day it clears. The local paragliders are a good indicator of flying days and I use their airfield.

Cheers
Vikram
