Title: Funjet Lookalike for 5th Year Sweepstakes entry
Post by: rastsaurabh on March 17, 2014, 11:01:30 PM
Seeing one of my friends Fun jet i have started a clone model for the same.......
Got the dimensions from some website and copied it to HD thermacol.

Aerofoil is tough so could not use Hot wire to cut hence did the traditional way ... hand sanding!!!!

hands paining....  :-\, Plan to cover with paper for strength and a wooden spar.

here are the snaps

Motor 2000Kv
3s 1300 mAh battery
9grm servos

I have a tall (5'7") wife, so I keep most of my stuff low level - underneath the guest room bed. Shhhh!

One of my Aunt is just 6 Feet 3 inchs High!!! This almira is the best arms length place for her to keep things. I remember few year back when she kept the utensils after cleaning on the top of the shelves instead in 'in the shelves' as thats easier for her. My mom was surprised that who kept there and Y ?

Saurabh, I will be eternally guilty for what I did to your piper...

This build looks sharp, I am anticipating that we will get to see optimum mileage off this model too... Arvind, aapka funjet thak jayega ;)

No worry about piper ..... did repairs and its flying more importantly i am able to fly it.

Lets not be overconfident about the model ... let me make it.... then we can see how it flies.... if allz ok lets see if we can have 2 funjets in air.

Bandage and fevicol!!!! good idea!!!!
i was planning for newspaper and fevicol for my build.....was reluctant as it is printed and later on cant remove that ink!!!! bandage seems good alternative!!!!! as it is white!!!! can u pls post close up pic of bandage u used...

Title: Re: Funjet Lookalike for 5th Year Sweepstakes entry
Post by: rastsaurabh on March 27, 2014, 03:52:44 PM
normal bandage used for wounds.... 4 inch , 6 inch.... width.....

take care to keep the wing under pressure while drying ... the wings gets warped post drying or stick paper both sides the same time...

One more option you could try instead is ... U get non-woven polypropylene cloth ( now a days u get shopping bags of this material ) and fevocol works great ... Tedious job though

i like this design........ {:)}

last yr i built something like this with no plans....power plant was EDF, i called it EDFArrow.....with 64mm EDF, KFm2 airfoil, though not much faster, but flew very well....recently purchased 68mm powerfull EDF and build coro plane, but was not much success, was bit heavy

so planning to make new one, probably hotwire cut...let see

here is my pic

@ashJR7202 unprinted newspaper is available at your towns newspaper office [local news] its waste bits from the ends of the roll that cannot be printed by the fast printers. They sell it as scrap to other smaller local Tab newspapers. Try your luck.
I think the non-woven fabric [Docnayeem] is available at local car seat rexcine [fake leather] upholsters. It costs around Rs 100 per Kg which is plenty.

The slow-mo build was really worth it in the end! Flew absolutely true and straight, with no bad habits whatsoever. An 1100 mAh seemed to go on forever!
