Title: giant extra 300 foamy ELECTRIKKKKKK size = typical 50 cc gasser!!
Post by: Pikle6 on October 24, 2009, 07:14:40 PM
yes guys i have finished the fuse of my typical 50 cc electric giant foamy extraa 300. i dont know what to call it in electric terms other than 50cc size its fuselage length without rudder is 2.1m or 210cm or 2100mm.

i have photos toooooo

the plane is built out of the thermocol i told of with a depron middle piece (the fuselage is a completely built up fuse with 3 mm ply wood beams in place for cf rods all over the body. the fuselage weighs about 250-300 gms and i expect the weight of the model without electronics  to be less than 750 gms or 1 kg ihave the electronics with me ready will maiden it only after 5th november as my exams are starting on wednesday

this project was built as a break from studying took me an hour to complete the fuse

there is a slight chipped off foam at the rudder base tip and the fuse as i joined two already used sheets of thermocol already used from the corners. each sheet was 105cm

Whole power plant is better finalized after you are done with the full model.  Even though you are optimistic about not having use additional reinforcements, it is too early to say.

thanks sai uncle helped me a lot

and for all you people i have officially finished the model of the plane the wings shall be attached on the field as it doesn't fit in my room!!!!  at this pace i could make and sell these (after the maiden) to sai uncle and make money ;D ;D ;D

so here are the final pics of the plane

and yes my estimate was a bit to less my whole plane weighs more than 1kg and less than 1.2kg all due to my ply wood reinforcement

anyway the planes strength is very very good and looks good tooo i will be buying a motor for the beasty any suggestions are welcome

please help

i believe this is the lightest plane of its category and i wish it flies better

pics pics pics  sorry forgot to resize

OK THAT WAS ONE THING I DID NOT INTEND TO BOAST ABOUT
being a foam plane i tape hinged it and please yes i know i did it right the steps were 6 fibre tape strips which were strengthened the opposite side tooo and then applied wonder 555 tape with hot glue yes hot glue and with final heat strengthening it is as hard as rock and weighs as much as a feather

I don't think an ambulance will do, I think this plane needs some "Packers and movers" Service  >:D

Just kidding subbu, Waiting for an video of this plane as you fly it. {:)}
