My friend wants to move from nitro to electric.. Most of his planes are 0.46 size.. Which motor/esc/battery/charger from Hk would be perfect for him? Cheaper is preferred as he doesn't want to spend too much..

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Here is one set based on what I saw on our field (on a Calmato).  You can use the general specs below, to fund substitutes.

Motor :

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2098
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4911

ESC : Turnigy Plush 60A or 80A

Prop : 12x8 (or in that range).

A separate BEC was used to power the electronics :

https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4319

Lipo : 3s or higher, 3300mAH or higher, 20c or higher. You also need a 2s lipo for BEC power.

Charger : Any 6s charger with individual cell display would do (IMAX B6, Accucel 6 etc).

Anwar bhai, can you please post some pics of the glow-to-electric models? Basically interested in the motor mounting and battery placement.

0.46 trainer can be replaced with not less than 400 watt and a good 3d plane may require even 800 watt.
So for higher wattage, go for higher voltage battery (4S-6S). higher voltage reduce current draw and receiver reliability will be higher.
RCBazaar has the Motors, but ESCs are gone. You may go upto 1.4KW Motors with 90A equivalent for .60 3D
But with higher voltage, use good battery, use separate 6 Volt SBEC (3-5A depending on your servo and model for aerobatics) and separate receiver battery.

RCHobbyaddict have Motor and ESC. RCBazaar have motors and comparatively cheap.

I am working on my model which is 6 feet wing span

chose motor from RC bazaar Aeolian 4260 (1425 watts rated  600 KV)

ESC is around 100 amps from hobbyking, and

planning to connect two 3s batteries of 2200 mAh in series to get 6s

and prop is 14 x 7

will be soon checking thrust, and all up weight is around 1900 grams, lets hope everything gets fine

Thank you Kalyan Sir! One question. If I connect 2 3S batteries each 2200mah in series, will the capacity become 4400mah or will it be 2200mah.

@prashant_rc Eagerly looking forward to the maiden!

Look,
If you add in series, the max. current capacity remain same, but voltage increase.
So, AH capacity, C capacity will be same or the least one.

Doubling the battery in series is just like, you have two glass of water & you keep them vertically one on another by increasing height (equivalent to voltage) but keeping the area of tank/glass same (Like mAH or current). So, the pressure/voltage increases, nothing else.

And doubling the battery in parallel, is equivalent to keep the water in a double area tank with same height. So, voltage remain same but the mAH increases (NOT C) and discharge current increases.

Perhaps this can be explained in more simpler way by others.

Thanks
