Thank you all,

@ flyingboxcar, I had built my School Marm under Deepak's Guidence at his workshop, he is an amazing builder. After building the School Marm i have learned a lot from him about building.

RC,
Yes he is a very good builder. I thought I detected some of his influences on your build and hence my guess that it was Deepak. Say my hello to him.
At the last picture, the last piece of sheet balsa on the rib bay is wrongly placed, The grain of that should be span wise and not chord wise.
I assume this was only for the picture/weighing and you would later correct that

Title: Re: GO-GO DANCER
Post by: R C on January 14, 2011, 08:28:07 PM
Thanks
Yes, this was just to check the weight & will glue it later.
I will give your regards to Deepak, may i know your real name.

RC,
Let's surprise Deepak.
Just tell him his builder friend from Chennai, and lets see if he is able to place me correctly

Hi flyingboxcar,

I just spoke with Deepak & he said it should be Capt. Manish. Is he correct.

Another suggestion, instead of using the brass sleeve for the aileron tourqe rods it would have been better to use plastic tubing (some of the old empty refills work great). This helps in minimizing metal to metal noise

Something like this ?
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=8857

This hinge is also available at RCDhamaka as well. RCD site seems to be down so giving HK URL.

Post by: R C on January 19, 2011, 07:08:20 PM
Thanks flyingboxcar, next time i will keep this in mind

Ujjwal, last time i visited RCD these were out of stock.

Title: Re: GO-GO DANCER
Post by: flyingboxcar on January 19, 2011, 07:21:21 PM
No Ujjwana,
Not like those, there is no need to buy anything, simple plastic/nylon tube with matching ID to give adequate movement is enough.
These tubes could be sourced from many things lying around in house, if you look keenly

What's the covering material used RC?

Title: Re: GO-GO DANCER
Post by: R C on January 19, 2011, 09:15:15 PM
The covering material is Monokote.
This is the first time i have covered the wing alone without anybodys help, it took almost 45 minutes to cover the half wing, tomorrow i will complete the covering.

Title: Re: GO-GO DANCER
Post by: flyingboxcar on January 19, 2011, 09:40:59 PM
RC,
Yes it is a bit of pain to cover alone as two pairs of hand are big help in putting on a tight covering. Pain it might be but not impossible.
Your work on the covering shows you have learnt the ropes well.
As long as you remember the trick with monokote is heat and pull, specially around compound curves you can do a good job.

A tip for cutting out stickers from monokote.
Take a printout on normal paper but the print should be mirrored. Now stick the cut and printed graphics on the backing side (the side which has a thin poly backing) of Monokote with Fevicol. Cut around the graphics so that you have the final graphics on Monokote, peel away the backing when ready to apply. This would take the printed paper away, and now iron on the monokote graphics on low heat (else it would distort) and once done, seal the edges with sufficient heat, you are done and now have the graphics in the same material as the wings.

We would get a Pundit Jee to the field for Puja/Jhaar-Phook and give Mr Ashta to Maiden it. I can dread to maiden other's foamie and make sorry face on a crash, but not a balsa one!
