Title: GWS beaver Question
Post by: hangingtough on November 21, 2010, 09:12:20 PM
Hi all,

i am currently flying a beaver with a brushless 1200kv, 2S , 8 X 4 prop. This is a high wing slow flyer.
AUW is only 350 gms

it flies great but i having trouble maintaining altitude.

The main issue is i like to fly it slow so i keep about 40% throttle but the beaver dives. So to keep it stable, i have to keep a lot of elevator ( 10~15%).

Friends,
is this normal to have a elevator action for slow fly or is this abnormal.

suggestions welcome.

yes - this is about normal .

In flying (real ones ) the throttle controls altitude and elevator
controls airspeed. (broadly speaking )

If you feel uncomfortable holding up elevator - and if you have a computer
tx then you can add a throttle to elevator mix - this will keep feeding up elevator
as you reduce throttle.
