Title: Hobbico Aerocruiser power system upgrade Post by: Sethji on April 14, 2010, 01:42:32 PM Mr. Rao, I wanted to seek your help regarding one of the planes in your Hanger. Please share your experience with this model.
My Hanger: 1. Hobbico AEROCRUISER EP ARF:Hitec 4ch SC FM Rx,2-HS-55 Servos,Stock Motor 380 size,Stock ESC and 8.4V 1100 mAh Ni-mH battery. I too have a 3Ch Hobbico AeroCruiser. It has the stock 380 size brushed motor, 6x3 prop, stock ESC, 2-HS-55 servos, and 8.4V 1350 mAh Ni-mH battery. The AUW is 640 gms. However, the plane has not been able to fly... It seems that the stock motor cannot generate sufficient thrust. Do you think, I should use larger prop (9x3, 8x4, etc) to generate thrust, or use a LiPo to reduce weight (NiMh battery pack is 175 gms), or swap the stock motor with a brushless motor+esc ? Others are also requested to share their knowledge/expert advice. I will appreciate your inputs. Thanks in advance :) Electronics Weight (Gms) 380 Motor (Brushed) 83.29 ESC + On/Off Swith 30.00 Standard Servo #1 46.50 Standard Servo #2 45.50 3-Channel Rx 26.43 8.4 V NihM Battery Pack 175.00 TOTAL 406.72 Parts Fuselage 87.00 Crowling 15.00 Elevator 17.00 Stabalizer 5.15 Wings 76.00 Battery Cover 4.34 Wheels (Blue) 8.75 6x3 Propellor 4.50 Prop Saver 3.05 Servo Arm #1 6.27 Servo Arm #2 6.33 TOTAL 233.39 AUW 640.11 Title: Re: Hobbico Aerocruiser power system upgrade Post by: Sethji on April 19, 2010, 11:09:36 AM Well friends... the AeroCruiser flew !
I used a 7x4 prop and inserted a freshly charged (cycle-re-cycled) battery pack... But, took extensive damage when it crash-landed... I haven't lost hope... with some fevicol, tape, and some sanding... it will fly again :) |
