Using an identical fuselage as Model 1&2,3.
I have decided to see how dihedral functions.

Test aircraft will have rudders, and elevons.

In order to do this -
1. I am using the wing from model 1&2.
2. Cut the wing in half
3. Attach a Depron rectangle in between to mount the servos.
4. Connect the servos to a Y-Connector, and put it in the 6th Channel, so that i can vary the angle using a regulator.

What i hope to achieve -
Gain height, level the wings and use the regulator to vary the angle of dihedrals and attain roll stability and fly using the rudder and elevator.

Pic 1 - Cutting line
Pic 2 - The hinges are the blue shaped diamonds.

I shall call this Model-4VD... VD stands for variable dihedral.

Retreat, Hell!

Nice idea. Are you going to be varying the dihedral angle in flight or vary it on ground for multiple flights and check for the best one?

Ill vary it in flight and remember the regulator's position for ground analysis

Even on a small plane the servos will be subjected to a load much higher than normal. Do take this into account.

@sushil_anand :
Yes sir, i have. That is why i will be using metal gear servos.
Not only the servo, the hinges will also be under a lot of stress. I believe i have  solution for that.

Metal gears + high torque.

Would be interesting to see the results. All the best!

I used proper hinges.
The hardest part i anticipated was the part to synchronize the two wings to rise equally, and it was.
Posted are the pics of the hinges, low and highest angles.

Project shelved due to
1. Non availability of line-replaceable units (battery, ESC)
2. Turbulent weather
3. Lack of time for R&D

I have only 9more days left at home

The a/c is good to go, except the esc which needs to be changed.

The esc is in YF-22 which is already plagued by
1. Turbulent weather
2. Lack of time for R&D

I think i will build another pizza box and just fly for the remaining days i have left at home. Also i haven't slept longer than 4hours continuously in the last 4days, which has reduced my patience just a little bit.

Ah, that reminds me of the 'sp4mm3r' days. Used to sleep for 2 -3 hours everyday!
Sad that this one had to be shelved. I was really looking forward to the results.
