Designed by Josh Bixler....of HK Bixler fame.

I've never built a foamy before, flown 2 though (Easystar 2 and Multiplex Fun Cub)

Managed to get 6 mm Biofoam from Sitaram Stationers, South Ex. 1, New Delhi. Rip-off at Rs. 300 a sheet!!!!

Warning: This is not a beginners model!!!

Build is fairly simple. However, the Flite Test swappable series goes together with notches slots and tabs, so you need a high degree of precision and accuracy in marking and cutting

I had bought some monokote (clone) from Ganguly-da of Lotus Hobby many many years ago. Decided to check if it had dried out Cheesy

Worked fine

I prefer to put the trims before assembly

All 3 servos HXT 900. Motor is Turnigy 2826 1400 KV, and prop (thanks Girish!) is 9*47 SF. Needs a 30 A ESC, I only had a 40A so used it

Finally made the LG as per the plans. Didn't like the idea of so much load on the wing (I specialise in rough landings ROFL

) but there seemed little choice

The wing hold-down rubber bands also keep the L/G in place. Good, else on a rough landing the bottom wing will get damaged. Should reduce that

sanjay sir that is beautiful! just a tip, if you laser print the plans, to transfer them to foam, put them face down and iron them... it will transfer the ink to the foam.. (mirrored though)...

Mohan, if you see the build instructions in Post #1 - what I do is put a piece of tape on the back, and then 2 x 45 deg. cuts. Then bend to 90 degrees, put hot glue, and when dry take out the tape. For different angles use different angle of cut

With a 24" wingspan it is easy to transport. The airframe with thr 2826 motor is about 490 gm. AUW with 2200 mah is about 670 gms

Mohan, it just won't work out.

The weight will be more, the wing struts and their anchoring will be a problem.

IMHO with 2 mm corro one needs min. 40" span & 8.5 " chord. That will give you a model flying weight of 900 gms or so

Even a bipe with 24" span and 8" chord like the Baby will weigh about the same ie 900 grams. This will not have the same flying characteristics - you would have to use a more powerful motor, the stall speed will be higher, the descent will be fast and rapid etc. Roll Eyes

Taitil, if you are using foamboard/biofoam, I suggest you build the fuselage from foamboard, and the wings from biofoam, thus keeping the weight manageable
