Title: Re: My first Foamy Post by: Priyum on April 20, 2013, 01:04:18 PM 1)Because its thermocol, consider it breaking on the first crash.
2)Use depron or epp foam which is much better for making scratchbuilt foamies. 3)If you want to continue with this, atleast reinforce with some cf rods or tape or bamboo skewers for support. 4)Tape the rough edges to get a streamlined fuse. Thats it from my side. Good Luck Priyum Title: Re: My first Foamy Post by: theleabres on April 20, 2013, 03:53:33 PM I built one similar to this with soft packing foam. If you keep it light, crash landings will have minimal damage. Shouldn't need anything more than a 39 gr to 50 gr 1000 kv motor, 12 amp ESC, 800 mAh 2S lipo, 9" SF prop.

Can you please suggest me Which type of Tape should I use, I would Like to Paint it? @theleabres At 1000 kv motor, 12 amp ESC, 800 mAh 2S lipo, 9" SF prop, How long will it fly? 20 mins! Title: Re: My first Foamy Post by: theleabres on April 22, 2013, 11:14:36 AM You might be able to fly for 20 minutes on a very calm day with 25% throttle all the way but only have you have very light wing loading so your model basically floats.
You have to experiment with the model's flight tendencies (slow stall speed) as well as throttle managament to find your motor's peak efficiency then you'll know how long your lipo will support flight times. 20 minutes is a very long time for one flight. One usually needs a break or pause after 10 minutes. Title: Re: My first Foamy Post by: Priyum on April 22, 2013, 05:14:01 PM Vkd use skewers alongside the fuse to make it strong and use colored packing tapes which come in various colors to tape around the plane which is great for looks and moreover provides enforcement :)

Change charger to Turnigy Accucel 6 - will be usefull for all types of batteries http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__7028__Turnigy_Accucel_6_50W_6A_Balancer_Charger_w_accessories.html Change servo to HXT900 - worth the extra price http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__662__HXT900_9g_1_6kg_12sec_Micro_Servo.html Propeller : don't use wood if you are a beginner ...you tend to break the prop...buy a plastic one...costs less.... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9845 ALL THE BEST  Title: Re: My first Foamy Post by: vkd1980 on April 22, 2013, 07:04:23 PM @santhosh
