Title: My first Plane - Depron FT Flyer
Post by: niteenk on September 14, 2014, 11:55:34 AM
Hi, All

I have built FliteTest FT-Flyer using 5mm depron and the expected weight coming out to be 120-140 gm more than recommended by Flitetest (May be it is because of Depron). Just wanted to check If there is any problem with the build and electronics I want to use with it.

Will you please review and let me know if anything needs to be fixed or modified?

FT-Flyer details:
-----------------------
AUW : 532 gm
wingspan = 26 "
Motor : Emax CF2822 1200kv
Prop : 8 x 4
Lipo : 1000 mah 3S 25C-35C

If cg is correct, this will fly. Only issue is that u r using 3s

Thats a lot of power on a 8 x 4 prop

I have flown foamies with 2s on simmilar setup.

Anyway all the best

Thank you sir for inputs!
yes, CG is perfect.
Should I increase prop size to match battery but that will increase speed and less thrust is my worry. May be i will get 2s 1000mah battery for this.

I think it is laminated with paper. I am going to purchase foam core now to build my next planes. Depron seems to be making planes heavier :(

frd

you build very neat and clean airplane so i think go for it , please check you motor manual Emax CF2822 1200kv and try
different battery which is much light in weight still maintain the power to weight ratio

please check the landing gear it should not be more than 9 grms , if it is then build new set.
also check  each and every part of the airplane also see spars weight you are using

and best of luck for the flying.

Hi
did your Ft flyer fly??
i am asking because I have built one last week which weighs around 350 gms, and I am skeptical about it flying..
