You were born an original don't die a copy.

Here it is ! I have started building my first rc plane the ft old fogey. I have already build the body and the wing . My target wieght is under 600 gms. I am using emax Cf 2812 1200 kv motor with a 9*5 prop and a 1500 mAh 3s lipo. Had some trouble finding plywood so building the firewall out of plastic and would be using bicycle spokes as the push rods. I am using the flysky ct6b does anyone know it's range ?

Motor 2822 or 2812?

Bicycle spokes as pushrods? Not jhadu teelies with wire from gem clips for the ends? Much lighter...

Range?
Look at you model from 200 meters away.
In flight would you be able to see which way it was going? Much less control it?
Doubt if you’ll ever be more than 100 meters out. The radio’s range is far more than the pilot’s...

Construction looks nice. Keep us updated!

Is 2mm plastic fine to make the firewall ?

When in doubt, check out alternatives.
Like titanium, steel, aluminium, hardwood, ply, balsa, depron, thermocol.
All you have to do is a pull test.
If you can pull the motor out, you need a stronger firewall!

The Fogey looks fine!
You could use kitchen cutting board plastic. That's quite strong.

In your other thread about firewall material, you said
Will 5mm depron do the job or would have to make it out of wood ?
I am using the emax cf2822 motor with a 9 *5 prop.”

In this thread you say cf2812, 1200kv with 9*5 prop.

The cf2812 is 1534kv, not 1200kv and needs a 7*4 prop, not 9*5.

Pl verify which motor you have, and use appropriate prop.
Specifications attached.

@knvshrm,
So you finally found some material for the firewall. Hardboard!
Strengthen the holes with a spot of superglue (after removing the screws)

1. Check if prop saver is on backwards
2. Push the prop assembly close to the motor body, not at the tip of the shaft

I thought you were using flexible pushrods.
You are using straight pushrods.
This will work better:

No!
You'll just have to move the battery a little forwards. Since you have a 1500 which is much heavier, you should be fine. Infact, the servos at the tail will help you balance.

Put hook Velcro beneath the power pod (full length)
And the loop Velcro on the battery. You can move the battery to attain CG then.
Your throws should be according to FT. If they are, then fine.
Are you getting equal deflections both side with that servo placement? If yes, then they are okay. I hope the control horns are installed correctly..... With the pushrod over the joint.

Show me the side view along with the control horn.
In my opinion, the force vector is not straight. So one direction won't be getting full throw.

@al ham shari
Bendy? What does that mean? Flexible? Or bent?

Doesn’t seem to be flexible...
Prabal has posted pics of similar pushrods on his similar model.
I’m biased, being the inventor of jhadoo teeli pushrods  Grin

@knvshrm
“How do I make a light landing gear?”
DONT MAKE ONE AT ALL.
Hand launch and land on belly...

Just go ahead man. By now you should have test flown it.
No amount of checking the depth of the pool, temp of the water etc will enable you to swim, without getting into the water.
So trust your knowledge and instincts and plunge in.
And please be neat and accurate in your work, not sloppy or messy
