Hello friends,

I have been working on two models recently. They are "STS 44" and "Transporter/Bomber type aircraft".

The STS 44 is based on a plan found here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?s=a5ae61309691a05252ff9ef31013d99c&t=372857&pp=15

All the details and specs can be found on the link.

The Transporter/Bomber type aircraft (Which still needs a good name for it) is self designed and is inspired from the ATR and Dash 8. Well, I like the status that the Bombers in WW2 had. So, I decided to go with it. Also I wanted to build a twin engine aircraft So, the result is what I made. Firstly I thought of making a scale "B25 J Mitchelle" but unfortunately didn't found a scale build plan for it. So, started working with the "Google Sketchup 8.0" and designed a simple and quick to build and smart aircraft. The wing span is 44", Wing area is 297sq. inch and estimated AUW is around 700~750gms. The Wing loading would be around 8~9 oz/sq feet. I will use two Hacker style brushless outrunner motors with SF 7x5e Propellers. Obviously two ESCs around 20~25A rating and 2200mAh 3s Lipo battery pack. It will need 4 servos(1-1 for Elevator and Rudder, 1 for Bomb drop machanism and 1 for Nose wheel steering) without Ailerons and 6 if with ailerons/Flaperons. Currently I didn't made ailerons on the main wing but can be modified further. Everything made of 5mm Biofoam. Wooden ply woods and Bycycle and Bike tyre spookes. The Landing gears are all doubled wheel to improve grip on the runway.

Check the photos of both two and give me some suggestions and opinion. Also I need a good name for my "Transporter/Bomber type aircraft. " so please suggest that too. Lets do something interesting... All of you please suggest me a name and the most appropriate name would be the name of that transporter/Bomber type aircraft.   Remember, the name should suite the aircraft itself, Not a person name or something else. Please think something wonderful and help me to name my "Transporter/Bomber type aircraft".

DSC00039 shows how I attach the wing straps to wing and fuselage in the STS 44.

DSC00046 shows my first ever build. It is a P51D Mustang of 40" Wingspan.

DSC00047 and DSC00048 shows both of my recent builds. The Blue Red painted is thatTransporte/Bomber type aircraft while the unpainted one with dehedral wing is STS 44.

Both are really good builds Sumeet... I really like the twin motor plane.... You can also add some Floats to it and name it "SEADUCK"... It was the name of Baloo's plane in the cartoon TaleSpin... Loved it... SmileySmiley

The 'STS 44' is one of the most fabulous plan built plane I have seen on the forum! Congrats Sumeet for his build.
I have some sugestion for the plane.

1. For the Nose wheel linkage, put the push rod on both the arms to make it 'Pull-Pull' config which is much sturdier. You dont need to put a Snap-on link when you have a 'Z' bend on your push rod.
2. Put some clear scotch tape on your entire Fuse. The Biofoam you have used is non-laminated and adding tape would add much of strength.
3. Instead of using paint, you can use Coloured Packing Tape, which could be had at a big Stationary shop. They are both cleaner, neater, and shiny.
4. Considering twin motor, use smaller ones like 80-100 watt ones 'Blue Wonder' ones. This would greatly reduce  the AUW.

All the  best for the maiden of the duo.

Thanks a lot everybody......

Special thanks to ujjwaana for nice compliments and useful suggestions, Anam Bhaiya for remembering my childhood(I am a great great great fan of telespin  Bow ), VC sir (Sent me a PM about it and suggested the names Walrus, Manatee and Dugong), Ajith and R/C vish for suggesting me good names and Anwar sir too.

If somebody wants the plans of that transporter, All you got to do is let me know. It will be wonderful to see somebody else flying my own designed aircraft  Wink .

Finally we got so many good names to choose:  Clap

Walrus
manatee
Dugong
Charlie
Seaduck
Twice-ter
big belly
flying giant
flying goose
foam goose
slow poke

He He He and I got some good names for the STS too. "Maidenfly and Grasshopper."

(Don't you guys think that I like orange...?)  Grin

The suggestion of Anam bhaiya inspired me to make floats which can be attached in the same way I attached landing gears.
So, the people living near water bodies can really enjoy the plane taking off from land as well as water.

Will post a pic too for the floats but only after exams.

Really appreciate you all, for the replies.  Salute

Thank you so much.

See you soon.

Have fun.

Cheers....!!!

Hello once again!

Its time to announce the name of that Transporter. Should I call it "Jason Statham"?  Giggle

Jokes apart...!!!
I think Walrus is good as well as it represents a creature on the earth. I am already a member of PETA organization(People for Ethical treatment of animals).
There were roughly 200,000 Pacific Walruses according to the most recent (1990) census-based estimate. The Atlantic Walrus was nearly eradicated by commercial harvest and has a much smaller population. Good estimates are difficult to obtain, but the total population is probably below 20,000.

Some innocent species on the earth really need our  Help Me . The Walrus is also one among those species. So, I think this is a good way to go.

And the cartoon. It will make the plane more beautiful and will make others think about it.

My new Aircraft needs a name...!

Thanks again everyone. The other names were also good and it was really difficult to choose one. But now I wouldn't need to find a name for my future creations coz I got 10 names remaining......

Thanks.

Cheers.

@ anwar sir

That lady that measures exactly 5' 5 3/4" doesn't have a name yet.  Grin
Maybe we should also ask fellow members to suggest a name. Let us call her "Mother Nature" or "something like a bollywood actress". What about if we call her "Katrina"? She will sure be delighted on this nice name.  Giggle

BTW, The modeling is done in "Google Sketch up 8.0". The software's library comes with few human models to compare other things to a "standard size human".

And anwar sir, I figured out that she is a Lady.  He He He Giggle

I clicked some pictures of STS 44 after painting using my mobile.

I used colored packing tape as ujjwaana suggested.

Wing and elevator remaining. Will do in a day or two.
