Hi friends,

Im Hanzroh and im new to RC India. Ive been obsessed with airplanes ever since i was a kid and recently after i took a brief sabbatical from my job, decided to plunge into the hobby and live a childhood dream.

Just built my own concept scratchbuild after reading about various construction methods here and also with the intention to design an aircraft that...

1. Is within 3ft lxb, for easy transport
2. Made of readily available materials so that it can be reproduced easily
3. Have an aesthetic look
4. Have good flying characteristics with options for FPV (Eeps.. Pls dont report me)

I went about designing and constructing my first project 'THE RED SNAPPER' which is a Twin boom pusher prop design

constructed entirely out of...

1. Coroplast 3mm
2. Foam board 3mm
3. PVC pipes
4. Hangar rods and Bottle caps for Landing gear
5. Umbrella ribs for pushrods

All of these materials are easily available anywhere..

The specs and Config as follows :

AIRCRAFT :

Length : 30inches
Span : 36inches
Chord : 9inches
Thickness : 1inch
AUW : 860gms, 510gms (wo Electronics)
W/L : 12oz/sq ft
CG : 33% from Wing LE

ELECTRONICS :

Motor : A2212/13 1000kv Outrunner, 150W
Prop : 1045 CCW
ESC : 30A
Servos : 2 x 9g TowerPro
Batter : 3s 2200maH
Radio : Turnigy 2.4ghz, 5ch FHSS Tx & Rx

I have posted pictures of the build here...

This aircraft took only 3 hours to build including the paint job and that should be useful for anyone who would want to start the build in the morning and fly in the afternoon..

Wing is made entirely of Coroplast using a spar made of Thermocole block .8inch x 1.5inch reinforced with foamboard.
Body constructed of foamboard
Twin booms of lightweight PVC pipes
Landing gear constructed out of bottle caps for tail gear & Deo cap for nose gear and used tyre tube rubber for gripping..

Also use clothes hangar to construct the gear and the build of the nose gear is such that it also acts as a suspension on rough landings (See pic)

Coroplast is not as flexible as Foamboard. So the Wing profile (See pic) is not rounded or curved as i would achieve using foamboard but the advantage i got is that its as durable for less than half the weight...

Wing has a slight Dihedral for stability.. about 5degrees or so..

Only Aileron & Elevator control. Ailerons controlled by single servo in the body housed to the wing and using a torque setup.

Elevator servo mounted on the H stabilizer

COG @ 33% of wing and AUW weight 860gms which is almost equal to the max thrust of this motor in gms giving it a Thrust/weight ratio of 1:1

All electronics including battery, servo, receiver and ESC housed in body under a hinged canopy that locks using velcro (Black). It opens like a fighter jet.. Smiley

I haven't flown it yet as im afraid of the BAN on RC Unmanned aircraft and drones. I stay in the heart of Mumbai and may need to go out of town for this.

I did a test run on my building terrace and its speeds down the runway on throttle but i didnt achieve take off as the length of the terrace was only 30ft.. I don't know if it would take off after 30ft or not just yet.. Will need your feedback..

Received good encouragement and support from Sachin & Milind and I thank them for the same.

Please do suggest/advise/recommend..

i await your precious feedback

Thanking you

HANZROH
