Originally designed as a Balsa Model for 25 size engines, this has been adapted to corro.

Plans are on Outerzone.co.uk

Brief Specs: Fuselage - 990 mm  39"
                  Span - 1360 mm      54''
                  Wing Area  - 27 dm2
                  Weight - 1500 to 1600 g
                  Channels - 4
                   Engine - 25

sanjayrai55

For anyone making this, I would recommend narrowing the fuse front by 1''. It's too wide - guess it was originally supplied with a cowling, with dual air intakes so the width was to accommodate that

sanjayrai55

I will be using the following power plant:

Motor : 3536-1400 NTM
ESC    : HK 60 A
Prop   : 11*5.5
LiPo    : 3300 3C 20s

sanjayrai55

Wing is 3 mm Corro, Fuse and Horizontal Stabilizer are 4 mm, Vertical Stabilizer and Rudder 3 mm doubled to 6 mm.

The spar is 12 mm balsa doubled in the centre portion

sanjayrai55

sanjayrai55

Servos: 2 of 17 gm Metal Gear (Elevator & Rudder)
2 of 10 gm Metal Gear (Ailerons)

sanjayrai55

sanjayrai55

Wing bolted

I make the supports as in the picture above, and trial fit the wing with rubber bands. Then drill through, and remove the wing; fit blind nuts into the support plates

If you read the post.....I use Vinyl Trim

Sir,
Besides the quality of professional workmanship and the quality of the accesories used, it is the small details that blow me away.
This time it is the rivets on the windscreen...
:hatsoff:

sanjayrai55

Thank you Iyer sir

Believe me when I say my total spend (without electronics & Landing Gear) on a model like this is less than 600 Rs.

After crashing I recycle the parts  ;D

Rivets, glad you noticed them. I didn't   Unless you meant the 6 mm long Self Tapping Screws holding the windscreen (which is cut out from an Indigo Air drinking water glass  ;) ) to the 6 mm balsa base plate, which is black because I covered with coloured tape

sanjayrai55

Someone PMd me as to how I got full size plans

1. Why PM? Put it on the forum; someone else too might have the same query
2. If you read some of my earlier posts this has been answered before
3. Go to a big photocopy shop - the type who have A0 A1 printer/plotters, normally do Engineering/Architectural drawings. The rate in my place is Rs. 80.
4. Please don't ask where I got the plans. Take your plan in a pen-drive in a .pdf format and ensure printing at 100% size

Once more a beautiful model sir.

Thank you Colonel! Now come and fly it while it is still fresh  :giggle:

sanjayrai55

:thanks: Vishal. Now if only I had your flying skills....

sanjayrai55

Thank you Prashant

To cut the inside holes/rectangular openings in the formers, I first drill holes in the corners of the opening to be cut. Then either I use a coping saw, or small circular saws on a Dremel or flexible shaft grinder. Finish off with a file

sanjayrai55

Thank you Ashok-ji. Now that the sweepstakes are here, I am really looking forward to your builds, to see how a master does it!  :salute:

Lovely plane Sir  :salute: :salute: :salute:
Always make nice and Attractive Look Model.

sanjayrai55

Taitil-bhai, thanks  :thanks:

Haven't seen very much of you on RCI. Hope to see more builds from you  :D

girishsarwal

I find wide fuses great because of the large volume that one gets inside. They do add to the drag, but if the front of the fuse is adequately tapered, I believe the drag/air block can be smartly tackled with.
Look forward to the maiden.

I was busy in work Sanjaybhai. I also want to make model for this sweepstake. And i will Try.

b4ggu

Sanj compared to MPX Acromaster, how different is this in specs and characteristics?

Also now that you have perfected the build and planes, which model flies the best in your opinion... I mean which model flies best at slow speed but is good in aerobatics at fast speed too.....   Which one is the most stable model out the ones built so far?

You recommended Spad Cap 232 ..I have got that on the build should be read soon... Is coming to around 1,6KG without Lipos... Lets see how it flies??

Need to build one of these two next; .......Chris Foss Acro Wot or MPX Acromaster! Any idea where I can get some plans?

sanjayrai55

Dee this has no link whatsoever with the MPX Acro. That is a 3D, and this was created in the 1970s when 3D had not yet entered aeromodelling

A model with very good slow flying characteristics - and good aerobatics at high speed? Most of the corro ones I've built have met their demise through the dreaded tip stall at low speed, mostly on the landing approach. So no, have not really come across something like the MPX FunCub

1.6 kg - something is wrong Dee! Mine was 1.1 Kg without LiPo.

b4ggu

I will weigh the wing and fuselage separately and upload... Ended up fitting metal gear 17gram servos throughout. The lipo hatch is 6mm Depron (2 sheets of 3mm with scrim tape in between) on the fus with hot glue instead of chart paper... Also needs some nose weight as the balance point is not as desired...

sanjayrai55

Was just reminiscing the very sad end of this model. No, it didn't crash. Was unsighted, and went off the field onto the road.
Never found it

Sanj,
My Spadcap met the same fate...Its lying in the Rapefield crop somewhere. I left my number with the farmer but he never called so either it was chewed up by the combine harvester or he has passed it on to someone.. ahh never mind..
However my Akromaster is coming up very nicely, will post some more images on the blog soon..

All the best, and waiting for it :D

b4ggu

Nearly completed the Akromaster today.. Will post the blog on a new thread.. Sanj you have probably made 10 models in the time it has taken me and Allan to make this one. :)  But we have had fun and its been very enjoyable.. Thanks for your inspiration. All we have to do now is fly it... :)

sanjayrai55

Congratulations Deepak! Looks superb  {:)} {:)} {:)}

Especially love the little curves on the wing and tail feather's tips

Thank you Sanj and Manoj...    Had a lovely day yesterday flying other planes, would have been good if we could have test flown the Akro but Allan had to make slight alterations to it and he could not complete the same and bring it to the field.. Maybe next time..
