Hello everyone,

I had the Tx-Rx of a 3 channel IR heli lying with me from last six months and finally, last week i decided to build an airframe for it. The original idea was to use the motor and prop combo from the heli for a free flight electric plane but finally it came out to be a single channel IR controlled plane.(I am still working on an actuator for the rudder)

The airframe selected is Hangar Rat, just because I had read a lot about its stability and ease of flying on RCG. The original plan was enlarged to 109% because I already had a Spruce stick lying with me which i intend to use as the fuselage so the entire plane was enlarged according to it.
Following are the specifications:-
Fuse Length: 380mm
Chord:          95.92mm
Wing Span:    512.44mm
Aspect Ratio: 5.34:1
Dihedral:        30mm on each tip
Covering Material: cellophane sheet

rest all is self explained from the following pics.......feel free to ask questions

completed airframe.......material used is Indian balsa glued with industrial grade cyno and fevicol. I have used cellophane sheet for covering. It is simply glued to the airframe with fevicol and later on shrunk using electric iron on 'silk' setting

That is seriously cool ...  I hope this influences some of the coro and foam
brigade. Aeromodelling is so much easier if balsa is used with traditional
Construction

thank you Saikat sir.....In fact I too wasted considerable time trying to work with foam, coro, thermocol and other stuff.....but once you work with balsa, its impossible to turn to something else

I missed this very clean build. Building with balsa is definitely easy and bilal what size balsa sheet have you used.
