Hello,

I acquired an old (but unused) RC Electric J3 CUB plane (model COX 8212) RTR. I think its a Trainer Plane.

Specs are,

Weight Excluding battery - 179gm
Wingspan - 74.9cm
Length - 54.0cm
Radio - 27.145Mhz

Issue,

The battery came with the plane is a Ni-CD battery pack (5 x AAA style cells), Which is a 6V pack and its dead.
I tested the electronics and Amp requirement using my charger and I think at full throttle it need around 5A.
I have a 2s 800mah lipo weighing 48gm  (less than original plane NI-CD pack).
Is using a buck convertor to bring down the voltage to 6V and use with the plane a good idea?
If so, can any one suggest one convertor which can do 5A?

Thanks.
