Title: RC Sport Trainer - Badly crashed
Post by: viraj on March 28, 2011, 12:19:14 PM
Finally after a months time I was able to finish my 1st scratch built Sport trainer completely last Saturday. checked its CG several times.. went through every post where I can find tips and which would help me better understand to make it better..

Went to the Hadapsar Flying Club, Pune for its maiden Flight .. As This is my first time and have never try to fly any plane as yet.. i thought I would be better If i ask some experienced player to do the maiden flight for me.

Asked several people over there but no one dared to touch my plane. Finally Mr. Amit showed sympathy towards us and agreed to fly it. He went though all the checks and finally the moment came for its maiden flight.

He hand released the plane .. it went up around 15 mtrs up in a 90 degree angel and the came down and crashed landed on nose..

It took i month for me to built it and it crashed in 1 min  :'( . He told me It was tail heavy and my Elevon was bit up thats why it took a 90 degree turn.. He also told me tips to repair it.

I am  thankful to Amit  for his help and I am very much confident to repair it again and fly it by myself now..

checked its CG several times..

I He told me It was tail heavy

If you had re-checked the CG, how come it was tail heavy? And I would agree that it seemed to be so.

Do not attempt to "fly it by myself" until it has been trimmed out by an experienced modeller. It is a recipe for heartburn!
