Title: scratch built corro trainer by v2_eagle
Post by: kunal mathur on July 21, 2016, 08:35:21 PM
Hi  after a little  success  with my brother's flying wing.  I decided  to do my first build . So Here is a high wing trainer copied from v2 eagle .  Initially  I made it according  to the  plans but later I realised  that the  dihedral  wings get folded in air . So I am made it a flat wing  .  It's yet to be flown . Now my brother  has built some wonderful  landing gear. To TAKE OFF  rather than  chuck launch.  Thanks Bro.
Will post pics and data

At first I thought it was my name. BTW can you post pics of actual plane.

Kunal

A dihedral has a very important function, especially in trainers

It has a stabilising effect. The wing if banked, will automatically tend to level out when you leave the controls
It enhances rudder effect greatly

To prevent the wing folding, strengthen the centre:

Doubler on the spar centre

Corro Wing wrap on the wing centre

Yes @v2 eagle Sir it was you, I copied your plan.

Thanks Sanjay Sir, actually at that time I was unable to find the best way to strengthen the wing and prevent it from folding with dihedral too
So finally make that wing to a straight wing
And yes Sir I know I have lost the advantages of a dihedral wings , mainly Stability but will build another soon
And do maiden with this straight wing when my tx and rx module will delivered.
Regards

@ Sanjay Sir I didn't understand above said and in the pic I see spars on the mid of the wing then now it will retain dihedral
Forgive if any silly question asked
Regards

Kunal:

1. The dihedral in a corro wing is basically set from the spar. Take the two spar halves, and set to the desired dihedral angle. Then, reinforce the centre joint by gluing another piece of wood (or more, according to the size) in the centre. Sand to fit neatly. For smaller models corro spars are also used; typically doubled up corro with the flutes running perpendicular to each other. The centre reinforcing doubler is done the same way
2. On the assembled wing, a centre wrap of corro is glued. The width will be the fuselage width plus some more. Corro used will be same thickness as wing.

By doing these two techniques, the chances of a wing folding are minimal. In fact, I have NEVER had a corro wing fold! (Altough I have had two - both the foamies I made - foam wings fold :D :D )

Thanks Sir
And sir after my  desired dihedral will glue 2 half spars and for centre spar can I use very shaped spar
Thanks again

Very courageous: to take off on a narrow road with buildings and electric cables lining it  >:D >:D {:)}

You can try ply wood strips instead of balsa spar. It will give you enough strength.

AS per Our Responsibility for care while flying, one has to see that there are no hazardous or life threatening,or like high tension electric wires around while flying, if there is any accident, it will probably block us or will suffer permissions to fly, we must respect our flying conditions and rules and ensure that we do not hurt anyone. Our Authorities will surely help us
