Out of the two....i think slowstick....but i wont buy slowstick as my first plane, i recommend multiplex easystar from rcdhamaka.com.

for beginner i definitely recommend slow stick ! but after some time it will start get boring ! but with MP Easystar you will never get boring!
with aileron and bit modification to rudder ! its good to fly! it will last long with good flying!
as bokilap  says i recommend Easy Star!

i am interested to buy easy star but i am interested in planes having landing gears..is it possible to attach landing gears to the easy star?
