Title: WORLD WAR 2 PLANE, 280MM WINGSPAN BALSA BUILD
Post by: abhay on May 29, 2011, 08:09:24 PM
Hello RC lovers,

I have been testing my models at my college campus, for it provides sufficient hindrance free sky. As a result, a teacher of mine had demanded a balsa built for her son. I could not den. I want to spend least so ill make it rubber powered or just a glider.

The following pictures i saw on googling just by googling "world war two planes". I drafted a drawing to make my own which resembles a mixture of all these.

I m posting the jpeg image of the drawings. I can mail the original drawings on cadd formatt if required.

Planning is quiet simple, but may have many things missing. Ill start making plane day after tomorrow, so GURUS please correct me wherever you can.

thanks ujjawana sir.. how can we join the gift wrapping film. It shrinks due to heat produced by CF glues,as soon as the three come in contact(i.e.. wood, wrapping sheet and CF glue)
will fevicol make it.?.

I am not aware about sunfilm.

Use PU Based adhesive like 'BonFix' , like the ones used by cobbler to repair shoes. The Shrinking property is handy as you would like remove all wrinkles and give the wings/fuse smooth and tight finish by blowing some hot air from a hair dryer.

Is it going to be a chuck glider?
I feel tissue paper with diluted fevicol should be easier to work with in your case.

Finally compleated the plane few days back..

AUW was 28 grammes..

Wanted to electrify, but could not. :(

Added a rubberband for rubber power, but got a very small flying time..  :'(

Finally the rubber broke up, and was now a chuck glider, with not as good performance as balsa ones..  :)
