Title: an easy way to coll a BLDC... Post by: roopeshkrishna on December 02, 2011, 05:03:34 PM Friends and colleagues..recently i wandered many and collected lots of scraped machines in to cars, helis, aircrafts and lots more..most of the machines are equipped with ECMs, but my intention to use all such ECMs on boats...but over heating is a problem with ECMs..so i tried to coll it with usual water scoop and extra pumps on it..but all it took extra power and space..so i found a simple remedy by adding a simple heat sink on ECMs...it works well...here is a ECM, is 4200 Rpm at Volt..heats up quickly..but after adding this attachment it worked perfectly...

Post by: roopeshkrishna on December 02, 2011, 05:11:12 PM after marking and drilling , remove any extra fissures..with flat file..apply a little electronic heat sink compound, and screw the motor firmly...now can fix it in any craft..and no worry of over heating...

I made a similar one & mounted a E-MAX GT2820 with a 11/7 prop... i vibrated like hell, as if it was going to blow apart... then made a more solid one with thicker aluminum and everythings fine.. does this mean my prop is unbalanced ?? i haven't yet mounted it on my plane though.. btw nice mod :salute: Title: Re: an easy way to coll a BLDC... Post by: roopeshkrishna on December 03, 2011, 05:40:38 PM Friend..when we fix a ECM, on an airplane, most of the time it must not be an issue, as the air stream from the prop cools the ECM. but if we fix it within the covered fuselage, it must be ventilated well, but still will be cooled by airflow..but when we fix an ECM, on a boat, it is hard to cool it as the hull will be in a closed manner..vibration from a propulsion unit may be due to unbalance, in the out runner cup of ECM, or may be, a bend motor shaft, uneven blade, or a poor quality blade...or by a defective pro adapter..you can simply balance your motor prop assy, by placing it between an electronic balancer, made of your PC. or can do from a lathe..please never try to accelerate the vibrating prop unit, that it can really hurt one, by throwing itself..and when, we buy a ECM, please refer it's wattage, and RPM, as my experience and study showing, that no any available ECMs aren't capable of working in its written limit..most 20 amps ESC are sadly burning out when it reaches about 10 to 12 Amps, at load...
