Hi Rcindians
Since I know many of you guys have made a 250 or mini quad, I wanted to ask about balancing the motors
I tried balancing it by seeing videos and even found the perfect spot.. but the tape won't stay on because of the high rpm and greater speed compared to low kv motors
Any idea about how to balance ?

Regarding tapes, I think original 3M tapes have the best kind of adhesives. I used 3M micropore tapes (available in medicine shops) in my quad (although not for motor balancing) and got good results. On the other hand, cellotapes and scotch tapes, even 3M ones, tend to come off. Micropore tapes are used to hold surgical incisions and tubes in hospital. These tapes are so strong that when a doctor hastily pulled off a tape from one of my colleague who had surgery, his skin came off along with it Sad

Even if you have tapes with good adhesive, it may come off due to the heat generated by the motor. If micropores don't work, there are 3M tapes which are used for vibration damping and are temperature resistant. See http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Adhesives/Tapes/Products/~/Specialty-Products?N=5471909&rt=r3 . Not all are easily available.

zipties are only used to know the exact point where motor need balancing...
and if the tape doesn't provide enough weight for balancing than try to tear off some meal from the opposite side of motor where it need balancing.. (i did like this with my brushless motor now its working perfectly)
regards

Don't shave metal, pieces may stick to magnets dependingly, Use expoxy/araldite on the ribs.

Don't want to make blunders by shaving... It is the only motor I have..
I will try putting an abro tape(I have no idea what it means.. just found it in my house and it's is very sticky)
Hope it does the job
