with a 3800 kv motor you would get 11.1 * 3800 = ~42000 rpm, and spinning a prop at 42k rpm is dangerous.

Why is 42k max a problem? No body forces you to go flat out WOT. At half stick the RPM would be lot less

@PankajC best idea would be to append a gear box to the motor ~ 2.5 to 1. or instead of using 3cell lipo use a 2 cell. But pl dont use a 3cell to drive a 5' prop.. Smiley

Consider the future use for the motors/electronics before you buy them, you will obviously want to reuse the electronics and you might be building bigger/smaller models than before. If You're going to stick to models weighing less than 500g, get a motor that can offer 600g-900g thrust with appropriate battery and prop combination. If in future you think you're going to build bigger models, then choose a motor that's flexible for that purpose, using different size props and battery packs you can power different models.

Same applies to choosing the ESC, get an ESC that's 10A-15A higher than the one suggested for your motor. Different props cause the motor to draw different amounts of current. Thumbs Up

can wer use a heli motor to a plane motor
Yes. A motor doesn't know if it's driving a propeller or an impeller or a wheel, it's just going to drive it. You just have to be sure of not applying too much load on it, if you do, it's going to burn up. That's why you cannot use any size propellers with any motor.

Heli motors usually drive reduction gears that connect to the blades, you won't get any proven aeroplane prop data or current draw data unless you test it yourself.
