it takes dedication to make and spirit to fly

hi people,
Does anyone have an idea how can a ducted fan be modified to compress air and weather a nozzle added to the end produce higher flow velocity?
did anyone try this?

Sir,
A nozzle with a smaller orifice than the outlet of the ducted fan will, by definition, produce higher velocity flow.
Whether it will work as an effective compressor is a different question altogether.
For example, i doubt if a model ducted fan could inflate a car tyre, no matter what nozzle you use.
Mainly due to lack of a non return valve, and potentially inadequate pressure.
Regret my answer may not be of much use to you, but that is mainly because you have asked a general question, and i do not know what exactly is the problem you are trying to tackle.
Regards.

Oops sorry..
Didn't frame the question right... Bang Head

I meant is there a way to make a ducted fan into a compressor?
If I do wish to do it does anyone have any suggestions weather I should go with an existing ducted fan and modify it or rather make the whole compressor including stator vanes and the casing?

I don't wish to get extremely high pressure just a considerable increase...
I just wish to know weather anyone tried it before and how did they get around making it?

I have no idea why did I put the nozzle part it my previous statement, sorry for that.

My (untested) expectation is that a ducted fan cannot compete with a reciprocating compressor.
Next week will connect an EDF, a cone, a nozzle and a pressure guage to check.
Will share if any useful data emerges.
Why next week? Sunday flying, Saturday getting planes ready.
Still not clear about your objectives though...
Regards

@archer
Sir,
Sometimes in our well intentioned attempt to help, we may end up providing useless info.

On looking at your other thread, i realise that you are looking for something entirely different:

"Does anyone have a ducted fan set along with an inrunner motor with power rating of more than 1500W and Kv rating greater than 1500Kv. Also, an ESC of 120amp along with a ducted fan of 70mm dia or more.Kindly PM me your offers."

Perhaps you may like to consider keeping related queries in a single thread...

Thanks for your input Iyer sir...

My inquiry for an EDF in sales thread is for another purpose so both of them are entirely different. Kindly don't confuse them to be related (though it may look like, but it is not so).

Anyways will be looking forward to results from your experiment... Thumbs Up

Regards
