Congrats Ankur for finally getting R/C stuff (if I am right, your first purchase)

It would be great if you at least send the URL so lessers like me attempt to work.

I assume that you got something like below

http://www.centerstick.com/GWS_EDP_20B_p/edp20b.htm

Check if you received small 'Ring' like prop adapters whose outer diameter matches that of prop and inner that of Motor shaft. if not do check with Mr Sai. Such small things are very easy to miss while shipping or even unpacking at your side!! But its also likely that the props should have exact diameter of the shaft itself.

Hope Mr Sai is listening.

All the best for your build!!

actually i didn't got it directly but got it it through amir bhaiya[along with other product from hobby city including lipos, aqua props, props]
he didn't open it so the prop adapter has not been misplaced and i open it very carefully
it was not send with it
secondly the prop given with it is gws ep 3030 while it should have been 2508
or are both the same??

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Not to hijack the thread, but these motors have been put to some nice use (came across this when I was searching for the motor specs).

Enjoy ! Wink

Description from the Youtube page for this video :

Quote
The website of the french group who built this one is http://grenadeindoor.modelisme.com/

This is the first RC A380 I see w/ a true scale like flight.

The best about it is the power system used: 4X GWS EDP20 w/ standard electric motors and props.

Weight:200g;
Wingload:20g/dm2;
Total static thrust:A little bit less than 100g

3030 and 2508 are grossly different props. Did the Motor /Prop combo come in the original GWS packing or was repacked by Rcforall ? In later case, you may contact Mr  Sai to check for a possible goof up. Other wise, try to get the exact matching Props for the motor from somewhere else as getting hold of GWS guys would be completely futile due to multiple people in between.

BTW, I have 2 brushed motors from a pusher glider (Chinese) with matching Props (4 nos) Want that ? (give away!) - an exclusive offer only for young enthusiast like you, living in place with no RC LHS (I grew up in similar town, so know the pain of accessibility of such items). You may PM me your address... and yes, I can also throw away the Rx+ESC and Tx (27Mhz), but first I have to check shipping logistics (motor, Rx/ESC are fine, but the shipping Tx is a problem)...

3030 is a good combination with GWS EDP 20 as long as you are using 3.7V. but you need to use 200 mah plus to have a good flight time.

You need a prop adapter to connect the prop.

Will check if I have any thing in 2 mm  and let you know tomorrow.
GWS  does not supply this power system  with prop adapter or saver :
http://www.gwsus.com/english/product/powersystem/edp20.htm

I agree with Col. Sundaram if you want to use 2 cells you have to prop it down to 2"

ok i finally got it to work using a 2510 [2.5*1]prop
and i also used the 3030[3*3] supplied by mr.sai with a motor that was extracted from a old portable cd drive which was used to change the position of the cd laser lens...
i also used a motor extracted from a toy car with a 4025[4*2.5] prop with a prop adapter made using tape[i actually taped the 2mm shaft of the motor to give a 4mm shaft on which i put the prop]-and the thrust was awesome, when i used a 3.7v li-ion(fully charged) to check it
now i need advice on which esc to use with these 3 motors system...-i plan to use them with 2s lipos
please help me out
the pic of the esc which i have posted[connected to edp20] is abt 5-6A esc provided to me by Mr.Saikat
please tell me if that esc can be used with any of these motors and if yes and which all of them?Huh?
here are the pics....
1st is of edp-20 with 2510 prop
2nd is of edp-20 with 2510 prop and connected to the esc i was mentioning
3rd is of the cd len positioning motor with 3030 prop
4th is of toy motor with 4025 prop

yes that esc can work with all the motors pictured.

Ankur,

I don't think adding a capacitor will help. The prop is not the right match for the motor. Better change the prop or the motor.

What is the KV of the motor that you are using? If that is a CD lens postioning motor then I would expect the KV to be in range of 2K or more and it might not generate the required torque for spinning that high pitch prop. I would suggest using a brushless outrunner.

in what does adding a capacitor help??
and i have 3020 and 2510  props is any of these two props good with that motors[which is currently being used with 3030-the cd rom lens positioning on]
also will chopping down 3030 work??if yes then till what size it has to be chopped??
i prefer to chop it as then i would not have to get the shaft of the other props enlarged as this perfectly fits it
i plan to use the cd rom and gws edp-20 with 1s-2s 138-850 mah lipo depending where i use it...
btw this was from a portable mp3 player and not a cd rom drive...
plz help...

I don't know from where you got the idea of adding the capacitor. In CD players you would normally see a capacitor hooked up between the motor terminals to suppress the noise generated by the motor. In technical terms its called a "snubber ciruit". That would not help you in increasing the RPM or torque.

I have no idea of how much torque the motor generates so, might not be able to guide you on the prop modification. If you want to experiment get a couple of props and go ahead chopping it down. But I am a bit doubtful on the outcome.

ok thanks
abt the idea of capacitor i saw that in toy rc/non rc cars the motors had it
when i compared two motors one with and other without a capacitor i found that the capacitor one had a better rpm and torque-the motors being the one and the same
anyways i'll try out by cutting it down...
