Hello,

I am using a Naza M lite updated to V2 controller for a flamewheel 450 frame. I need a proper set of ESC's. Can anyone here, who has used Naza guide me which ESC to use? Preferably available at an Indian LHS. Which things to consider before buying the ESC's ? Any help regarding this is appreciated.

Regards,
Dipanjan

Oh, I am using Emax 20A simonK ESC's. They arm and fly, but they have the wooble problem (hover steady, descend woobly, roll pitch woobly), AND the motors don't spin when checking using the motor test option in the assistant software.

If it was motor direction, then the quad wouldn't even lift. It hovers perfectly. Also I have tried tuning the gains, but the wobble doesn't go away. I suspect it is the esc's. Motors are emax 2213, similar to the DJI motors.

I think Esc is the culprit because the motor test option in the assistant software doesn't work. The motors wouldn't even move when I click the motor test option.

I have used Emax escs with the Naza, with good results, it could be the gains. Have played about with the gains to solve the problem?

I have also done tuning, but the issue doesn't go away. Since you have also used NAZA, can you tell me which firmware was in the ESC's? SimonK or BlHeli? Also, what was the refresh rate of the ESC's?
Also, I would like to know the gain values, since the values shouldn't be much different from each other. If everything fails, then I might visit your place one day. You live in Kolkata, right?

The wobble during descend is sometimes so large, it seems it might topple over. Sad
Roll and pitch wobble kicks in when I RELEASE the roll and pitch stick. If I move the copter in a continuous fashion, it moves smoothly.

Another info, both on the Naza M lite and V manual, they say that the refresh frequency of NAZA is 400Hz. Can I use any ESC that has update rate > 400Hz, let's say 4MHz? Or for optimum performance do I have to use 400Hz ESC?

Not sure about the refresh rate of the escs. They were Simonk. What battery are you using, 3S or 4S ?
Yes I do live in Kolkata and you are welcome to come over anytime.

hi,

The best Esc to be used with the naza is the DJi 30A opto having 450Hz frequency.
I have 4 pieces brand new. let me know if interested.

Here's my setup
S500 frame
Tattu 4000mah 25c 3s
A2810   900kv motors
12x4.5 props
Dji naza lite flashed to v2

Experienced the same wobble problem as dipanjan ....lite worked flawlessly.
Upgrading to bumblebee with same electronics ....let us see what  happens

Wobble is always there. It's due to propwash.
Balance motors and props to reduce it.
Descending at an angle also helps in smoother descend.

Correct me if i am wrong but in my case descending verically down shouldn't be a problem as i am using a frame with upswept arms i.e. the s500.

Hi,

One last option is to calibrate the naza and set the gain to factory default.

maybe that will work.

I'm using a Tbs discovery (clone) with naza m lite ,emax mt2213 935kv motors and emax 20a blheli firmware and 10x4.3 props. Have had good stability while flying in all the 3 modes. Check gains!

Did you try to calibrate the ESC via TX? my motors were not turning from motor test in assistant, after throttle calibrating the ESC they started working.
Connect your ESC to receiver directly (one at a time), I connected to throttle channel, turned on my TX, kept throttle on full, turned on the esc, it would give a different beep, after that pull down your throttle to lowest, another beep from esc and its calibrated. This is problem with Simonk firmware esc and Naza. Calibrate all your esc and then test from assistant motor test, motor will also arm properly

At the very begining I was using exactly this same method as I have done for my previous quads. But then the motors didn't even arm. So, next thing was to throttle calibrate the ESC's with 120% endpoint settings and after that, I had put the endpoint to normal 100% . Then, the motors started arming and the copter flew. But I am not very happy with the stability.

There IS one thing that I haven't said, because I don't personally think it is an issue. I am using three 20A SimonK and one 25A simonK. Though, I think that shouldn't be an issue, I am buying one 20A to eradicate any questions.
