Title: PLZ HELP SOON.......... MOTOR BEEPING AND DID NOT START.
Post by: manojswizera on October 22, 2011, 08:17:40 PM
Hello all,  i am a beginner to  the hobby . i have made a self home made plane. every thing is fine, except my electronic .
i bought my radio from a friend and set up my brushless, esc, receiver, battery all. first the motor start and then after sometime it stopped and start beeping( beep, beep - beep, beep)  as i connect it to the lipo. i thought the motor failed, so i get a new one, but didnt work, i read on esc manual that if lipo power is low then the sound comes from the motor, i brought a new 3s 1350ma lipo. still the motor is not working but making new sound ( beep - beep - beep ).
as read all over ma be that prior the problem was of my 7.2 volt lipo which was giving only some 4v, with one cell dead. now with new lipo as per the beep sound,    in esc manual it is written that it may be due to the loss of throttle signal, but my servos are also not working.  plz help i cant afford new tx , rx, or esc.
is th eproblem with esc,  receiver problem or transmitter problem.  i tries every thing on transmitter ( Throttle reversing, throttle on full, half, lower ) everything , infact the esc is not doing anything . just a 123 sound , no sound of reading the battery 1s or 2s or 3s.
motor beeps and nothing is happing .

its my dream project,  as i am new i dont know other thing to solve the problem. plz give me the solution and from basic concept step by step.  THANKS

first of all the sound is produced by esc and not by motor...i think your esc has gone into programming mode.is your esc a programmable one?
also just go through the connections one more time..is everything  properly connected..sometimes because of dry soldering, connections are not proper.one thing more, just ensure whether esc lead which is connected to receiver is connected with right polarity..
if still nothing happens just seek help from a expert person if possible...or wait untill some senior forum  member helps you.don't try to do things on your own else you will keep loosing money.....

What brand is the ESC and motor?

hi dude

don't worry, first of all plz check ur radio left stick. put it at the lowest position. (down side). then power up the rx. then u power up radio. thats it.

if u keep the left stick(throttle control) up side the it will enter the ESC programming mode and u will hear sound in pattern like 123-1234 -1.
this is the beep code that u have entered in setup mode for ESC.

so please check ur radio throttle stick and put it on the lower side.

but my servos are also not working.

Its not programming mode of ESC. I think it is Receiver not linked or the Throttle Servo lead at the receiver is reversed.

friends my ESC is HOBBYWING pentium 25A,  MOTOR is  Emax 1200kv.  polarity to the receiver is also right. the esc is not going in the programing mode.  and i heard the noise from the motor, my esc is not beeping.  i Have try the throttle down idea also nothing works.

i dont know about dry soldering what is it, how it effects .  may it the problem of receiver or transmitter ?

lets troubleshoot your setup...
is your motor rattling when you move your left joystick,or is it not responding at all?
have you inserted esc lead into correct channel i.e 3.

if still nothing works i would suggest you to change your esc or take help from professional  near you..same problem occured with me also 2 months back...as i was testing my setup, everything was working fine.but motor suddenly stopped..i tried everything but could not mend it.finally i had to change my esc..(even my servos were not working)...it requires real professional electronics person..

if i am not wrong buddy, the battery is connected to the ESC and the 3pin lead is connected to the receiver in the slot named as battery, because bec is inbuilt in the esc.

this is the mistake you are making..always plug the the esc lead in channel 3 and not in batt channel.batt channel is meant for additional  battery supply.just correct it and your setup will run fine..for hobbyking as well as futaba channel 3 is where you connect your esc lead..

Hey hitesh... The Beeps are infact made by the Motor and not the ESC.

Swizera!

You can power up the Rx in two different ways. One is by using an ESC with an internal BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) while another is by using an separate BEC for the same. As you have the ESC having BEC, You don't have to connect an extra battery to the Rx to power it up. Just Connect the battery to the ESC (Two thick wires(Black and Red) on one side of ESC) then Connect the tiny three wire(Black, Red and White) lead to receiver's channel3. Remember to keep the white wire(Signal wire) towards the labeled side(You can find Ch1, Ch2, Ch3...Bat labeled on the Rx) in the Rx while Black wire towards outer side of the Rx. By this Rx won't need an extra battery to get power. On;y one battery will supply power to the Motor as well as Rx and so to Servos.

Some people prefer to use an External BEC to power up the Rx. This BEC actually does convert the 7.4 or whatever volt coming from the Receiver Battery pack to regulated 5 or 6V which is limited for the Rx's. And the ESC goes same as the above described procedure. The difference is that ESC doesn't have to supply power to Rx now. It only supplies power to Motor only. The BEC also have a tiny Three wire lead same as the ESC have. It goes in the 'BAT' channel in the Rx following same manner that the White wire goes towards labels and Blah Blah Blah.....

The usage of both the methods differs from Person to Person and Project to Project. Both have Drawbacks and Advantages. The First one is used where you can not compromise with weight of the Extra Battery pack for the Rx, while the second one, on the compromise of the weight, gives advantage that if the ESC or Motor or its battery fails during flight, You still have your Rx intact with this because it has an battery associated to it and has nothing to do with ESC. Thus you can still help your precious plane to glide down on a place not so far away to you causing less problem.

One more Problem that you can face, How to switch Motor's Rotation Direction? Just Swap two wires among three of ESC<->Motor Connection.

If there is something that I missed or I am wrong... I request the Pro's to correct me.

Thanks.

ROOSTER ,i wonder how a motor can produce beep  noise...there is micro speaker in esc circuitry which produces beep noise ....
SWIZERA ,anyways just correct your esc to receiver connection and you are ready to go..

Swizera,,

I suggest you answer the following questions before any further attempt is made

1) Did the ESC come with a manual?
2) Does your Radio TX/RX require binding? If Yes did you bind the Rx to the Tx?
3) Do you know which of the pins of the connectors in the RX is signal, +ive and -ive? If yes, did you check all connections are in order?
4) Usually whenever a new ESC is used, it first needs to be armed or the throttle range needs to be set, did you do this?

At this point, my suggestion is to disconnect all load from the RX except one (either motor or one servo) to test the connection.

regards
Pankaj

hi mate.
connect your esc to battery using the 'large' red and black wires.  not the small ones shown in pic
plug the esc into the throttle channel of the rx. [ch 3 ]
plug the motor into the three large wires on the esc
power up .does the light come on the rx? ....[with the throttle stick AND the slider down.]
regards

not sure if this will help but might give you a very brief idea on programming the esc and making some sense on what the beeping sounds are from an esc..

Thanku all friends for helping me  :salute:. guess what , my motor stated..
after doing everything yesterday i joined my tx on a 12v dc current , and pull up my throttle and suddenly motor started. Before in my tx i put new batteries , but it didnt work.  infact my tx has battery indicator , it shows good every time with new batteries, but it worked with 12v dc, now the problem is that i cant connect 12 dc in field ??
can i use 11.1v flight battery 3s 20c in tx or i should buy special tx battery. if yes from where through net ?

Yes You can use a 3 cell (11.1v) Lipo Battery to power your TX. But before you buy! just insure that it fits in the Battery cabinet in your TX. There are various available on Hobby king. Try searching there.

Thanks.
