Title: slow response to Tx input.

Hi,
     I was trying out my DY2212/13 motor with a 20Amp ESC and 11.1v 3S 1800mAH battery, I find that the motor starts at close to 50% throttle and somehow doesn't seem like its revving up to max. speed at 100% throttle. After a few times the motor starts a little above zero throttle. Any idea why this happens. The same is seen with a DY2217 motor also. The motors start at around 25 - 50% throttle and at 100% don't seem to be too fast. I have just esc connected to receiver and nothing else in the circuit.

Later connected a 2812 motor and it ran great with no sluggish start or seemingly sluggish behavior at 100% throttle.

ANy pointers what may be the issue.

Did you set up the throttle range as is required for most electric's when you first started the motors .

Most ESC's will have  also have a fail safe  in case of throttle being on reverse.
Have posted this before but for your benefit once again:

Procedure for using Brushless  Electric  Power Systems for RC Models
1)   Turn on the transmitter first 
2)   Raise Throttle to maximum Position
3)   Connect Battery to ESC
4)   You should get a sound signal  confirming setting of Max throttle position
5)   After hearing a long beep confirming  the max position of throttle  reduce throttle to Zero
6)   You should hear a sound signal  confirming the minimum throttle position  followed by a long beep or a set of beeps  confirming the minimum throttle position .
7)   Thus the throttle range has been set up.
8)   While disconnecting the  battery kindly note the Battery has to be disconnected from the ESC  before the transmitter is switched off.
IMPORTANT NOTE
•   If the transmitter is turned off before the battery is disconnected  there is a very high possibility of damaging the servos and other radio systems.
•   Majority of the ESC’s currently available in the market today use this procedure for powering on and off .
•   Lithium Polymer batteries require the use of special LIPO charger and at no time should they be charged with regular available chargers.
•   IT IS ADVISABLE TO USE THE ABOVE POWERING ON AND OFF PROCEDURE EVRYTIME THOUGH IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL

THIS IS ESSENTIAL AS THE ESC HAS TO UNDERSTAND THE MAX AND MINIMUM THROTTLE POSITION.

Thanks for the quick response Sai. I have seen this post earlier, but was wondering if it was ok to start at full throttle to set the range for the esc. I had earlier searched around and found and followed these instructions at http://www.allerc.com/motorwiring.htm. Not sure if this is specific to the Hyperion BL motors alone. ANyway I'll try out your steps later tonight and verify this. I have seen these same motors revving up pretty good earlier. First time I'm seeing this happen. In any case will try out and let you know.

The procedure is essential as the ESC has to understand what is the max and Min throttle position if you dont follow them then you have a very very confused ESC  ;D

Tried this out, the ESC keeps generating a set of beeps at short intervals at full throttle and one long beep at zero throttle. Then no more beeps. The motor seems better now. Will set it up in the plane and then try it out. Thanks for the instructions.

The Move from Full to zero throttle has to be quick and smooth without stopping at 1/2 throttle otherwise you wil enter the programing modes . hence at full  move immediately to zero after the beep
