Title: Strange behaviour of power system
Post by: allthatido on May 15, 2010, 04:45:15 PM
Hi All

A strange thing happened today. I bought some Rhino 11.1V 20C 1050mah lipos from hobbyking. After changing the connector to deans i tried powering my foamy...the motor and esc are AXI 2208/32, esc Jeti 8A but the system refused to power up.

So i though may be i missed some connection..but when i plugged another lipo ( 3E 2200mah 12C 11.1V) the motor came to life. So my connections are not broken. I even checked my Rhino with a multimeter and it is showing 12.5 volts.

Strangely, when i decided to put my watt-meter in between the esc  and the rhino lipo...the motor came to life. but if i connect the lipo directly to esc....the system fais to power up.

Any guesses what could be wrong?????

Looks like the connector is the first suspect. The new deans you have on the battery seems to be not getting a good contact with the deans on the ESC. But it seems to work OK with the one on your wattmeter.

Try jiggling the connectors after connecting, or just replace the connector on the battery.

Even though i was getting a continuity (tone) in multimeter for the deans connector, i decided to change the connector and see what happens....and voila my motor came to life...so i am over this problem now...hope to maiden soon.
