Title: Cheap Boat Kits
Post by: VC on February 21, 2011, 09:40:46 AM
For the first time, I have on offer two basic balsa wood boat kits. Construction is straightforward and simple, designed for beginners. The hull is skinned for easy construction. Superstructure (cabin) is very basic but can be modified. Each kit comes with pre cut parts, propeller, brass prop shaft, and brass stuffing tube. Plastic prop and rudder are also included. Can be powered by 300 /400 size brushed DC motors.

Off Shore Boat 39cms - (Bare bone kit) Rs. 500/- + Courier.

Motor - Add Rs.250/-.

Brushed ESC + Reverse mechanism - Add Rs. 650/-.

Full kit (includes all the above) Rs.1400/- + Courier.

Cabin Cruiser 46 cms - (Bare bone kit) Rs. 650/- + Courier.

Motor - Add Rs.250/-.

Brushed ESC + Reverse mechanism - Add Rs. 650/-.

Full kit (includes all the above) Rs.1550/- + Courier.

I have just received the kits and have not started construction. I will be posting pictures of the kits shortly.

If you are interested, please PM me for further details.

Regards.

By sheer coincidence, the hull of the 46cm boat is an almost 1:50 scale replica of the PT  Torpedo boat. The most famous example being Pt 109, which was commanded by the late John F. Kennedy.

I have started work on the model. Pictures to follow.

Mr. Krishna, I would love to sell you all the stuff, however, a master modeller like you won't need any of this. Your levels of boat modelling are far above these ordinary things. Every time I see your giant Frigate (and other models), my eyes pop on disbelief! :salute:

If you are still interested to save time and spend money, do let me know.

Regards.

Sir, thanks for the inspirations..but all we know that, there is no any  limit in model making. i told you, that i do not have any modern facility to accommodate in my model works. so, the instruction from your words is too inspiring that, if i have a chance to get a good motor with an esc, for my crafts, it will be much time saving to me, especially, in my bad health situation. Sir, as you know, i can starve, but cant live without making models. even now i am working on various crafts. so some useful stuffs may help me a lots. so, please give me some instructions to get some needed stuffs from you, to me once, because i have to save my time and effort. please its a request. i need a good motor and an ESC for it, or a full kit as you mentioned here. i have saved some money with me from my modeling works, and i will pay you the cost to your account number...Sir, please its a kind request. Krishna.

VC Sir,

Any possibilities of offering bigger size models, since I feel more inner space is required for converting the boats into full fledged r/c ones.

Perhaps, due to an oversight on my part, none of the metal parts (Prop, shaft, stuffing tube and rudder) have been included in the kits as they did not arrive from the manufacturer. I am not sure about this, but I don't recall seeing them as I packed the kits individually.

Would request all those who bought them to please confirm once you open the package. If they are missing, I will send them to you immediately.

My apologies in advance.

i started out the build too. will send out the build snaps in a bit. ( my card reader is missing ) .
question guys , am i the only one who had to trim some of the kits out, also how are u guys gonna drill the hole for the prop shaft ?

Title: Re: Cheap Boat Kits
Post by: viksi on August 24, 2011, 01:34:57 AM
Here's my progress so far  :hatsoff:

I got some of the trimmings wrong , 1 because i didnt factor in the warp that the wood might have , two i didnt have anything but my eyes for an alignment aid for the ribs.

so ya , the boat is a little warped and im hoping to take care of it during sanding and finishing.

also am thinking of turning this into a sail boat , with a carbon fiber mast and a main sail.
does anyone know where I can get those wench servos ?

Good evening Friends..first of all i have a humble request to VC Sir..VC Sir, actually these kits aren't cheap boat kits..surely all it are value for money..equally for a beginner and for expert model maker..its too simple to assemble, i took 20 minutes each, but stunning after finish..too stable in water..and flying over water..and i am enjoying my boating with these kits..and i added lots of imagination to each hull, and one is finished as a fishing trawler and one is as a speed boat. i will post all of my building procedure here, within time..and i hope all you also may be building your kits..

Viski, we can simply drill a hole in to any hull, or in to any airframe, by attaching a thin round needle file to 12 mm chuck drill, with speed controller.

Regret to inform all concerned that I have cancelled and recalled all the consignments of accessories and a boat kit for Coolprathesh that were being sent through Professional Couriers.

The consignments had been collected more than 3 days ago and I have just found out that they were still sitting at the Couriers office. No reasonable explanation was provided by the staff.

Will despatch them by tomorrow latest. Fresh details will be updated.

My apologies to all concerned and I thank you for your patience. I have sent out individual PM's to all 5 concerned members.

quick questions guys

What are you guys using for the filler material. is it polyester putty ?
Also if instead of a paint finish, if I wanted a clear wood finish , what should I use .

thanks in advance

Title: Re: Cheap Boat Kits
Post by: roopeshkrishna on September 03, 2011, 07:20:08 PM
Viksi, its a nice effort..we can use any kind of putty to finish our crafts. but NC (nitro cellulose) based putty is not enough to fill big gaps.but if you use the PU (polyester putty) you can simply fill gaps in any size.and in my examination, the PU putty and Car body fillers are almost same, but differs in money. both are showing same characteristics, and smell too.we can use any paint to any putty surface, but my friend says me a PU based paint gives much better finish. but costs a lots.PU putty is very easy to sand out, start with 100 grit paper, then with 400 or 600 with water. some kits are not designed to go for a direct finish.means after laying out, there must be lots of gaps, strips and so on.so without a gap filling cant attain a clean finish.instead you can finish your craft with putty, and after smoothing it, can paint to depict the wooden surface.very easily. orange paint, with little black, will gives us a bare wood color. after whole painting you can dry brush some grow lines over surface gives a nice wooden surface. after drying can go for a clear varnish finish gives a glossy effect.
you can see here, is my craft, is showing the wooden door at first photograph. but it is made out of drawing paper, seasoned, and painted to depict the wooden spars..its easy and looks elegant..

have some nice builds.. :hatsoff:
