Not to low ball or something. But the Price of the same charger at Hobby King with an instant rebate of 5 dollars making it only 19.99$, adding a registered shipping of 12$, it comes to 32$ X 47 approx = 1500 Rs all delivered right to home. Customs wont even bother opening it.

one can buy 19.99 X 3 chargers and pay 23 dollar for registered shipping all coming to 83 $. i.e 3 chargers for 3900 and also 200 grams of free space still remaining on the parcel to buy additional items.

Every body has the rights to sell at the price they wish, but does it even justify at this price difference Head Scratching Head Scratching Head Scratching

RC plane hobbyist from Kolkata, but now in DC

I support Anam for selling RC items at prices he seems appropriate...

There are lot MANY thing to consider other than just the $price listed on Hobbyking website. Please note that you have to pay in US$ - not everyone has a PAYPAL account or international credit card, then there are additional foreign currency fees levied by the local bank... Many items are not in stock in the HK store, add to that the long delivery time (weeks), even EMS packages get lost (yes, I can prove), and lastly but certainly not the least our Indian Customs can make your life miserable...

If people see value in the services offered by Anam (and other like him) then they will want to buy at that rate or else they will go to the next seller... who may offer better price or better services, etc etc... The free market concept will take effect till we reach an equilibrium...

I am pro LHS (both online and physical)... because they add value... of location, time, and local currency...

Every one is free to voice their opinion, and the above is mine...

With almost  thrice the price, I don't see the equilibrium reached any sooner unless we get some LHS giant making the economy of scale work. At one hand one says that its not my full time vocation, that he is here for the betterment of flyers, and operate on 200% margin!! No, I am not gonna buy the Customs excuse - as they won't bother such small volume 're seller'

Unless one sees getting return on paying the premium today in form of one day same LHS bringing down the price, there is no point watering so many LHS. We have already seen some psuedo LHS turning deaf ears to flyers.

Prices like these would get buyers who are unsuspecting, urgent need, or are very the best compassionate.

Thanks Vinay for the link to support your view. Even  if you remove the $5 credit, the price differential is just too much for regular R/C flyers who wants to carry forward his hobby on budget.

And Sethji, please don't mind, but more than 'Service' I see it as good business proposition, which is nothing wrong when I say "Okay, I anyway order stuff from XYZ, why not get some thing extra and support my hobby as well". I would consider it as service only when you get local support as some established LHS provide in form of guarantee, repair, approval etc. This one is more proxy buying.

I would appreciate if a flyer posts his surplus item at reasonable price (overheads) or regular LHS putting some notification. But making this forum a virtual catalog of your items with multiple posts is uncalled for.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

There is merit in both view points.

People are discussing Hobbycity back and forth here, and everyone is aware of its existence, prices, shipping charges, and the fact that a few items (not radios or ARF/kit aircrafts) are often not charged any duty.  So it is easy for most people to make comparisons and reasonable judgement on how competitive these prices are, and decide if they want to purchase else where.

For the record, I do not mind people like Anam (or even other established stores) posting new inventory here.  It is not like we have 100s of posts a day, and it helps the members of this site to know what is becoming locally available.  Some of the items are not carried by other stores, and that is welcome.

Can the pricing be better, MAY BE (in fact, I am tempted to say MOST LIKELY).  Does it help offer more choice to the customer, absolutely yes.  And "we" (or should I say "I") are pro-choice Smiley  And that "choice" will also bring in the change Ujjwal and Vinay (and more likely everyone else) are hoping for Smiley

PS: The item seems to out of stock already.  I would request the sellers to dutifully lock the threads when the item goes out of sale.  We are trying to keep the forum clean by strictly maintaining a list of item that are still available, and the co-operation of everyone is earnestly sought in this regard.

Earnestly, Anwar, I would love to buy R/C stuff just like I buy my clothes and grocery. Not like waiting for shipment to arrive from west after painful wait of over a month. But more than anything else choice and price governs our decision. Most of us earn in Rupee and indulge in Hobby of Dollars,  price rules over everything. Unless there is this balance between price and wait/local support, most of us would quietly head west wards.

I wonder why the principle of "Atache' and then revenue" is not used instead of 'Revenue first', like most of entrepreneurial run business in west! Good thing is, few LHS have started this, but much is still desired from others.

wot are you guys talkin about... the price for the charger is 23.99. add 37.08 to the shipping....
it will be 61.07
61.07 X 47
it comes out to be around 2870.29.
i am sellling it for 3700....
profit-Rs829.71, out of which Rs110 goes out when you deposit the money in my bank account(my HDFC account is not a premium one)

so is this very high for you people...??

if anyone orders other things also, i make it a point to offer them discounts, ask the people who have purchased things from me.
for the last 3 orders in which i offered discounts and i didnt even charge the courier charges....

In India, all the chargers are sold not less than Rs3000, if anyone has a problem, please dont buy from me, no issue...

37.08 to the shipping....

I dont think anyone would ship just the 437 gram charger paying 37 $ shipping which is for 1 KG. Infact many people I know at jakkur dont even spare a grams space that too on a Airmail  Wink, forget EMS.

so is this very high for you people...??

It all depends on Awareness, Urgency, no Paypal account, and people who still believe customs is a hassle just by reading others post who would have stuck coz he would have ordered a plane or a radio  Smiley

out of which Rs110 goes when you deposit the money in my bank account(my HDFC account is not a premium one)

Also if we buy through paypal, we are buying at the first of this month and we are paying at the end of next month(for the CC). Paypal also offers safety if the parcel does not reach us. Wink

In my view, it should be priced as below :
$23.99 Base price of charger :
$19 (10% of 1 kg  EMS approx shipping charge by EMS - Anam, try ordering by Airmail to reduce this . this is MAX you should consider for shippign )
Total : $44 x 47 = Rs 2068.
Add 20% profit : and sell at around Rs 2500/-

If you sell at this price, i will get you a buyer in a day.

I think you can sell easily as long as you ensure a consistent pricing across all products.

Anam - You have to look at this objectively, as any individual would do it. Basically, one big part of success in business is putting yourself in the shoes of your customers.  If you are ordering for yourself, and it is a non-urgent item (as the case is here for sure), no effort should be spared in reducing the costs involved in procuring these items (that means shipping using Airmail, and sharing the cost of shipping with other items).  It not only helps you run a larger volume business, but it also help customers to get items cheaper (and that is critical for many youngsters without deep pockets).

At the end of the day, no business has ever won the battle of "Hey customer, I am OK even if you don't care about me or buy from me".  That works once or twice, then reality sinks in.

Please do consider the points suggested here by people as the words of well-wishers (as opposed to being low-ballers), and look at every single person as a potential customer.  Ignore any negativity that may reflect in these words (including mine) Smiley

Gaurav,

Are we not being too simplistic in assuming that each of these accucell is being shipped individually? Huh? If you account for that then the profit is already taken care of Cheesy.

Anyways, there may be buyers at this price as well....

i am a buyer myself, in the past few months i made purchases from many hobby vendors in india. I noticed that the prices they were offering were very high. As compared to the many vendors in india, my prices are good enough. i dont see a point in arguing on the price. it is not a very high price.

There are many sellers even on rcindia.org who are selling items at a much higher price than me...

OHK... SO YOU PEOPLE TELL ME WHAT SHOULD BE THE PRICE???
If you were a seller, what price would you ask for this charger...Huh?

If you are looking for guidelines or people's expectations, see Gaurav's post (just couple of posts above).  I am not sure 20% is a decent margin, and people may be willing to pay some more.

Also, others may possibly be selling at higher margins, as you rightly pointed out. Unfortunately you are at a disadvantage because your purchase price and expenses are somewhat obvious to everyone, while the other sellers are shielded from public access to this information. Take it easy, you are doing something that others are not... you may need to make minor adjustments on your side, that's all.

I think you can sell easily as long as you ensure a consistent pricing across all products.

The problem is you never know how much will be the customs etc unless the product reached in your hand. I can see there is no customs factored into this calculation. One can always factor a reasonable custom duty on such parcels. Also, if one orders by airmail it will take atleast 30-45 days to reach. so for that amount you need to factor the money blocked for such duration.

but again, the issue is you cannot be sure of your selling price unless you get the product cleared from customs (if they get caught)

Here's how I would calculate:

EXAMPLE:

Base Price: $23.99
Customs : @20% = $4.80 (post under-invoicing)
Shipping: $19.00
Total COST : $47.79
PROFIT MARGIN @ 25%: $11.94
TOTAL SP IN INR : 59.73 * 47 = Rs. 2807.31

This should be attractive...
