RC plane hobbyist from Kolkata, but now in DC

I am thinking of ordering some Servos, Motor and matching ESC from a hobby-store in the US (3rd week of April). I don't trust the airmail/parcel-post service and plan on using the USPS speedpost to have my items shipped. USPS is expensive  Help Me - I still have space (weight-age) available and wanted to order some additional parts to share the shipping cost with others.

I am posting this to estimate the level of interest. If anyone is interested then please simply reply on this same post with your need/level of interest. I am not ordering an TX-RX, Lipos, or other items that will get me into trouble with the customs department. Please use your local hobby shop for these. I am pro LHS !

  • Servos (5-9 Gms) - Approx price: Rs. 400-450
  • Brushless Motor (provide approx. thrust above 500 Gms) - Approx price: Rs. 750 - 950
  • Matching ESC (15-25A) - Approx price: Rs. 800 - 1000
  • Propeller - Approx price: Rs. 80 - 200
  • Prop Saver - Approx price: Rs. 150 - 250

If interested copy the below on your reply and place the amount you want before the item.

  • ___ Servos (5-9 Gms)
  • ___ Brushless Motor (provide approx. thrust above 500 Gms)
  • ___ Matching ESC (15-25A)
  • ___ Propeller
  • ___ Prop Saver

I have not ascertained the the final prices and you are not obligated to buy these from me. I am based in Calcutta, India and you can either pick-up items in-person or we can arrange shipping. This is not an offer for immediate sale and I am merely estimating your interest.

Thanks for reading !

Happy is a man whose hobby is his profession

well

I want a hitec single conversion reciever crystal for channel 17. i dont order anything from US  usually and ordering only crystal would be too expensive. If you could add that in your order too if possible i would be grateful.

If possible please let me know.

I got my 2 Futaba 6016 Rx, Dubro Hinge Tape, Molybdenum Grease and pack of C/E clips from Towers via $11 worth 'Unregistered' post!  Though Towers, unlike HC, put an honest invoice of $120, customs opened and passed without any charges.

Most other things you listed, except you are not keen on Hitec/Futaba Servos and original AXI motors and Great Plane ESC,  are available at many LHS, and Hobby king:

1. Servos (5-9 Gms) - Approx price: Rs. 400-450 : Rcforall/Indian Hobbies
2. Brushless Motor (provide approx. thrust above 500 Gms) - Approx price: Rs. 750 - 950 - EMAX CF 2822/2812 - Rs 560 + Taxes from RC Dhamaka
3. Matching ESC (15-25A) - Approx price: Rs. 800 - 1000  - RCdhamaka/RcForall and others
4. Propeller - Approx price: Rs. 80 - 200 - RCD (almost HC price) /Rcforall/Rotor have them
5. Prop Saver - Approx price: Rs. 150 - 250  -same as above-

I usually order things from Towers/US which are not available in India / HC/ other HK e-bay shops at all. You must feel lucky that R/C equipment are equal or sometimes even cheap in India compared to US. Photography enthusiasts would die for such prices. People would argue that US brands are of supreme quality (Kokam/AXI et all), Yes! but the prices are much much steep for the quality!

The things you have listed wont make much sens to order form US unless you are going to put it in Rs 2-3 Lacks Turbo Jet plane where quality/reliability is of prime concern.

Hi Ujjwaanna,

I kinda agree with you...the EMAX CF 2822/2812  from RC Dhamaka makes good sense. I have read good reviews about this model and the price is certainly cheaper than what I have been quoted in US for similar motors.  I checked our LHS (India Hobby Center - Kolkata) and they are quoting Rs 850 for 5 Gm servos... The 9Gms on Ebay.in are from DYS (a Chines manufacturer, that I have heard not too positive reviews)... Anyways, thanks for your input.

I have not been able to locate micro receivers or motors locally. However, the hobby store I intend to buy (Falls Church, VA. US) have micro RC gear for AUW <100 gms.  Drool I had visited that store in 2005 - but could not afford any electronics. Nonetheless, they do catalog sales... and I want to try to get some stuff now...

sriharishine, I am considering WhistlesTopHobbies for ordering some micro RC stuff. They have a website (http://www.whistlestophobbies.com), but they do not have product listings on their site. I think, I mentioned in my previous response... that this store does catalog sales...not web-commerce  Shocked

ankurkaul17, I will be calling them this weekend and will inquire if they have a Hitec Single Conversion Receiver Crystal and the best price. Will send you a PM - once I have more info.

Hmm! Sounds Are you sure that the stuff you you want is not available at other true online store (pay by card /pay-pal) at a reasonable price ? the point is that the one with large online sales have much attractive shipping rates. I get 300-400g shipment from Tower Hobbies at $11 ! I hope you would have done research. There is Mr VC on this forum who does some Micro-flyer stuff. Please get in touch of him too.
