With all due appreciation to your efforts, please avoid using such Dogmatic phrase like "BEST BEGINNER PLANE EVER" ...
You plane does look almost ARF, even though I guess its scratch build, neat, but there are many, many things which goes to make a plane 'Best', most important - time and word of mouth.....

Do you understand that you are discrediting other highly coveted trainers like Cub, Cessna, Tiger, Easy Star etc.
This forum does provide space for commercial advertisement, but don't make it a trash marketplace like todays's TV and Telebrands where people put tag line out of nowhere (PSPO, ZPTO, DHA Blah Blah!!) .

There are other sellers on this forum who sell in house models and sell ARF. I have never seen them pitching their models in this kind of language.

@rc bharat price too high. i guess roopesh sir's main motive was to provide it in low cost but this seems just the opposite....

I think price is OK.
Roopesh sir as i know would have tried to give the best competitive price and where do u get such a hand crafted beauty at under 10K that too with battery included.
Price is justified considering the flying abilities this plane has! A perfect choice for a begineer..!!

Gbisht - Pls let us know about the expectations on very low price.
How much were you expecting?

Title: Re: VERY GOOD BEGINNER PLANE
Post by: aviator on May 17, 2012, 12:15:33 AM
@ Shauviks and Gbisht -

I have been working on the price angle and here's what i arrived at :

1. Motor - 1100 Rs.
2. ESC - 900 Rs.
3. Battery - 1200 Rs.
4. Servos - 880 Rs.
5. Prop - 130 Rs
6. Connectors etc - 200 Rs

Total for electronics - Rs. 4410

Listed price is Rs. 7599.

Remaining price is Rs. 7599-4410 = 3189 Rs.

Rs. 3189 for such a beauty isn't much! Look at the paint and finish plus the decals.

He has done the Job by designing this and making in bulk for the beginners use. I, personally, felt in love with it after seeing the sea beach video. Such a stable plane it is even with ailerons!!!

It's good for a beginner to have it and learn the flight basics plus loops at a later stage without the need to change over to another RC Plane!

Also, I request anyone to point a link at other LHS/Overseas site for a similar plane for better pricing comparison!! The point is, price must be compared comparatively and not on one alone basis!

P.S : Electronics have been calculated on regular LHS rates who maintain good Inventory.
And yes, I don't represent RCBharat here but to be true, m a fan of Roopesh sir and his works!
 :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

Gbisht - I appreciate your concern regarding price.

Please compare the motors below, the first one is fitted in SUSAN and the second one is the one you mentioned in your post :

Fitted in Susan - http://www.goodluckbuy.com/mystery-a2212-15-930kv-outrunner-brushless-motor-for-rc-helicopter.html?&sl=en

Mentioned in your post - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5354

Hope the price is justified!

Further, request you to consider the following:

1. LHS like RCbharat, RCbazaar, RChobbyaddict have to pay VAT + Taxes too. Please correct me if I am wrong.

2. Supply chain management (SCM) takes into consideration the cost of carrying inventory. Pls see at inventory build up at the listed LHS.

And for my little experience and faith in work of Roopesh sir, I personally commit u 100% refund if u r not satisfied with this plane!!

Please don't take me wrong on this!!

BTW Mr. Sai please book one for me. Will be transferring money Tomorrow.  :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

Respected Modellers.. i have some words about this effort.. if, not it will be like "Guru ninda" means, cursed by Guru, as i need not to take that curse.. in reality, the idea of a good stable slow+ high speed flyer came in to my mind, by the inspiration of ever veteran aero Modeller of Kerala, is Mr Vinod Madhavan, to me, he is my elder brother than a Friend, and a perfect Guru in my aero modelling, as we were enjoying tea at home, after some hardworks, with Nikin who is my Colleague, is an Aeronautical engineer, working in a prestigious institution, as i discussed with both.. in my dream, was a stable flyer that fly easily.. so, it became a fire among us.. so, within a short time, the scene was the realization of a craft, with full knowhow available with us.. at first, the main criteria was the performance, but not the appearance.. so, the Susan 1 born.. i thanking a million time to Vinodettan, and Nikku, for this great effort with me.. and we gone for test flight.. at first, the craft came too stable in the hands of Vinodettan, all the while, and he showed us its dramatic capacity of flight.. this test was conducted even without servo screws inserted.. then he gave me the TX , and the experience was something amazing.. the feel was at the controls to me like a 4 wheel craft, with a traction control, while the resposne was just like biting on a piece of butter.. she flown well balanced without any fingers on TX.. the flight sustained about 30 minutes.. then came back, as rain spreads.. at back home, my way of thinking came in a way, that to share this excellent craft to others.. and i requested to Vinodettan to promote this one to all.. but as he was not interested, i talked many, and last Sai agreed once.. then, i realized that my state of health is not allow me to go for a hardwork, to meet the need of Sai.. so, i made an arrangement, with Vinodettan, to produce this craft in a mass scale.. but, the price with Sai, became not a match, with Vinodettan, as his idea was to use mechanisations in production.. so, it came back in my head.. still i was trying to keep away, from Sai's request, as i clearly know about my body.. but, realizing one fact, that about a good looking craft, with nice performance, keeping this on my shelf was not fair feel to me.. so, i re engaged with Sai, with a word of extra time to work, with my health issue.. as he agreed, i was struggling to maintain my words with Sai..

Title: Re: VERY GOOD BEGINNER PLANE

so, from some persistant request from Sai, and from my Friends all over, thought about a second and thirdth craft, with more revised charecteristics.. so, i designed V2, and V3 as pusher, and V3 is still under some developments, and stopped temporarily, as i have to complete the work for Sai.. so, the V2 became even more hit, even among us ourselves.. and with my Friends here.. so, i told Sai to give more importance to V2, as it looks good and performs good.. with its clip on type wing, it behaved very nicely all the while..  the V2 was test flown by Nikin, and even he was enjoying the flight all the while.. the whole test flights were conducted not by me, but by Nikin, is an avid aeromodeller, and gave me the word as good.. so, i have a clear idea about two crafts, as those certified by two experts in the segments.. so, with some minor adjustments, and with some guidances, i hope this craft will behave good up to you all..

and some cost criteria.. making a coro plane is easy, and it tooks only a little money.. but we have to consider some facts..  actually i was suing these stuffs on test flights is all given by Vinodettan, as i am not much rich to buy all these as new.. the motor and all stuffs were costly, and i found even a 7.4 volt second hand motor costs about 600/-Rs.. here is the list that i used in same crafts..

about craft.. i told you my dream is not a busines.. but, making a coro plane is easy.. but finishing it is some tough job.. one main criteria is its type of paint.. tried with various paints.. but found heavy, as i have to spray lots of coat over it.. so, decided to take PU paint, as one coat gives a better finish, and smooth surface.. but PU paints are much costly.. so, at present, i am reworking on same, as reduce the cost, with Sai, with less cost paints.. hope works .. and need one full balsa sheet to reinforce whole craft.. a sheet of 4 mm balsa costs about 300+ and courier extra.. without balsa reinforcement, the craft will be a mess.. even the plywoods are good quality light weight.. so, by this time managed to make some new fuses, for less cost paint job.. i am making each craft with hands.. and no magics.. still love this one.. much.. I am living in Kerala state.. in Chombala..near Calicut district.. Sai is far away from me.. to send 5 aircrafts in two seperate plywood boxes, how much i need..? can i send him in a card board box..? and i must need a help from some one, and Gokul, is helping me a lots.. have to pay him something.. so, whats the cost of an aircraft..?

my dream is only the promotion of RCying in a good scale, possible by me.. and still i never claim this craft is an amazing machine, or so, but is my dedication and hardwork.. and still trying to manage to cut the making cost to minimum possible.. and hope my efforts may become positive.. and requested Seniors to take a test flight, and to guide me to make even more good craft for my Friends.. to me, this is a mission.. not a business..

Title: Re: VERY GOOD BEGINNER PLANE

Sir, the real value of a plane is far more than 7000, 10000 or even 20000 Rs.
The heart of the modeler triumphs over every flight and sinks over the crash!
Reminded me of those magical lines from 'The Prestige' :

Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course... it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige"."

Hope folks understand every modeler lives for "The Prestige".  :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

Dear Folks, why are we comparing prices between a 'handcrafted' product and a 'mass produced-machine made" aircraft.
Anything made in huge volume is always going to be cheaper...
If somebody is going to customize and made a handful which soon would be "collectors" items, these Naturally must come with a premium... when hobby'king' reduces their prices, no one suffers... when these small modelers who are not Stealing our money do the same, they dont get by sweat equity... let alone their cup o tea.

I know that only coz of Roopesh's passion he'll continue to build till this last day... but most other people would be more discouraged than encouraged...

we are the same people who'll pay tru our nose - in black... to get a 'first day first show' ticket...   :giggle:

Bottom line - this is not Charity for Roopesh but his heart of Charity has caused him to model, find a seller and his product to Us.

folks lets have some dignity - Live and let Live... folks who what this plane will go and get it and will ask for the discounts if they cant afford it...

I have to make mention of the many such people on our forum who regularly reduced prices and offer weekend 'sale' etc to promote the hobby...

to close - when Electricity goes in the USA the Govt checks the Power plants, If the same happens in Japan, the people check all their fuses... but if it happens in India... we look at the neighbors home... if there is no power there, then its OK.....  ;D

Lets wise up!

Joe ! isnt it more logical thing to do ? if there is no electricity in the neighbourhood also, why check the fuse or the powerplant ? Sit tight, electricicty will be back, if not antakshari, candle light, and early dinner. ? that is fun too, my village in keral did not have electricity until late 80s.  Some people in some other parts of the world will indulge in looting and arson, when the electricity goes (See this movie if possible, a true story happened in 2003 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0822791/)

having said that,

Sai
Book one for me, let me fly it more aggressive and prove it that she can fly agressive too ! what say ?

PS
Roopesh can you customise it, basically write my name on it and a RCI logo ?

Point of view from a beginner:

What I observed there are 2 types of guys in RC aero modelling:

1. Those who enjoys scratch building (wants to make everything from scratch and than enjoy flying, scratch building gives them more joy).
2. Those who enjoys flying (buy ARF kits and actually flying gives them more joy).

For scratch builders this price may look higher initially, but on the long run you get the experience of a expert who at the design and building level eliminates all the issues in aerodynamics of the plane. For me till now I have invested much more than 7500 and still I don't have a flying plane, though I am enjoying the hassles and struggle. For scratch builders a good initiative will be to give out building plans of this beautiful plane.

For guys who enjoys flying this looks an good deal. You get a ready to fly plane without any hassles or making adjustments.

Moreover, I agree to what VC said...."anything designed by Roopesh HAS to be a success."

Respected modellers.. i just came back home, and see this postings.. and happy that i hope my humble efforts may help you all.. and Augustine sir, will customize one for you, and will reinfoce some more, by all means, for an agressive flying.. and i never claim this machine is ultimate, but i am waiting for all guidances from all Respected Seniors, to make this craft more utility.. its my prayer.. at present, may be some flaw, but i am sure with the guidance from all Seniors, i can even more perfectise the machine, not for me, but for you all.. its fun to fly.. exciting.. and easy.. Sir, i am waiting for the customizing instructions from Sai.. and so happy to serve all you Seniors here.. i realized my life.. that waht a modeller can get.. the greatest award.. i am thanking once again to Mr Sai, for the promotion of the craft to RCI community.. and finished one low winger also.. will add shortly..  :salute:

.but if it happens in India... we look at the neighbors home... if there is no power there, then its OK
Joe ! isnt it more logical thing to do ? if there is no electricity in the neighbourhood also, why check the fuse or the powerplant ? Sit tight, electricicty will be back, if not antakshari, candle light, and early dinner. ?...

Dear Gusty, yes most defiantly that's the best thing to do if the neighborhood has no current  ;D ... I know you have understood me and are on the same page... but for the sake of folks who didn't read my post.... I mentioned this mentality amongst us that "if the others don't have it, then its fine that we don't" lol
When we have a project like this that can encourage our community, why are we squabbling over HK prices and other LHS and their rates... there are 5 models made... any 5 people who want to support this venture or enter this hobby can buy it... and the matter ends there.... instead we look to see if only he has current hahahahah!

Sir waiting for your Build/fly Log... cheers (btw i'm back after a looong trip... will call you some time, same number??)

waiting to dry paint.. as i cant use hardeners to avoid weight, the PU takes a good time to dry.. but when dried its a nice surface.. all stickering is hand done.. cut and glue.. then water proof..
can try various motor prop combis for great flying fun and sheer excitement..

Red Body: yellow tips.
Mettalic Blue Body: Orange tips.

All respected Modellers.. please give me a little time extra.. because, to avoid weight, it is not possible to add hardners in PU base paint here, so taking a bitter time to dry.. and sadly, not possible to keep under sun, as prolonged exposure to sun may warp the structure.. still paint is some tacky.. fear of finger prints while handling.. may mar the finish.. one more day.. will update all with decal works..  and have two types of low winger, is flat cock pit, and one with glazed cockpit, ressembles the WW2 fighter.. sorry for the delay from my side once again.. here while making RC air crafts, have to keep a great aspect in mind.. the weight.. so, cant use now and then materials.. so the paints.. :salute:

With all due appreciation to your efforts, please avoid using such Dogmatic phrase like "BEST BEGINNER PLANE EVER" ...

I think it is a really good aircraft for beginners. I saw Vinod Flying it and I tried it out once too... Its pretty good for the price and It sure can take a bit of pounding in terms of Rough landing. Its quite sturdy and heavy so it flies well in slightly windy conditions. Small bruises seems easy to repair from. You can do a bit of tricks with plane and it has enough power to pull of loops and stuff too... :)
I placed an order for 2. :)

Cheers,

Eobin

Eobin.. million thanks for the real experience.. and yes, 1000 times my efforts are same, as i felt this one is as nice.. sure need some trimming in initial flight, then, recharge it and fly.. and waiting to get all feedbacks from all to make this craft even more friendly..

some updates.. all respected Modellers.. my idea was to courier these machines to Sai, and was waiting for it.. but a serious matter came in to play as, the wing span goes in to 50 inch, the courier charge will rise to a great extent as they all calculates in volumetric manner.. so, at presnt i am remaking all wings in to two pieces, and with reinforcing additions, at modellers hands.. so, still making wings in to two pieces.. complete it fast as possible, and will courier it all to Sai.. including the low winger..
here some more paint schemes..

roopesh sir are these planes 100% depron or you have used any coro in them. what is the AUW of planes and thrust of motor. just wanted to know for my build as you have seen in my other thread, 500 gms weight is a failure for Emax cf2822 motor.

Title: Re: VERY GOOD BEGINNER PLANE
Post by: roopeshkrishna on May 31, 2012, 11:21:46 PM
Vinoetta.. with grace and blessings from you all.. :salute:
Cod, this plane is 100% coro sheet.. no any other material is used, except balsa wood strips for reinforcements of wing structure as spars, and fuselage cornering.. i kept it all maximum square in shape, because of the easy of making, and easy of repair.. and tried cutting for maximum extent.. the All Up Weight of this plane, with 2200 mA/H battery is 1050 grams, including nose weight ballast.. i kept it as a little heavy, to achieve good stability.. with a mere 1200 mA/H battery it will be 850 grams.. and this one is big plane, with a wing span of 50 inches.. big, more stable.. so, you must need a good motor, rated at 880 RPM/Volt, or 1000, 1200, RPM/Volt, with at least 240 watt of capacity.. and surely a 9X6 electric slow fly proppeller.. with light motor, this one will not enter in flight.. you can also use bell type motors with appropriate props, in to 780 RPM, or 1000 RPM/Volt.. with above metioned motor set up this one flies nicely.. and need only about half throttle at altitude..so, good flight time and confidance.. ESC must be 30 Amps at least..

i am confused, i have emax cf2822 (1400 kv) isnt that powerful?
i mean higher kv means more power or its something else?

http://hobbysea.com/index.php?productID=68

is that a bell motor, please clear some of my concepts regarding motors.

Title: Re: VERY GOOD BEGINNER PLANE
Post by: roopeshkrishna on June 01, 2012, 12:41:17 AM
Cod, you are wrong.. more kv.. not more power.. we can see even tiny motors with 1000 kv.. but here once again.. repeating.. you must look in to the WATTAGE of the used motor.. example.. if you have a motor with 1000 kv, in to 80 watt, the power handling capacity of this motor will be less.. means, at load, motor struggles.. and eventually burns off.. but if you have a motor in to 1000 kv with a wattage of 250.. things will be different.. motor handles the situation easily, and lots of power will be at hand as researve.. you can calculate this ratio by lots of complicated formulas.. but need nothing here as you can see the instruction leaflet provided with the motor, when you buy it.. and if the purchased motor is not with instructions ,please avoid to buy such motors.. because, manufactures must instruct us, about the power handling capacity, RPM /Volts, needed proppelers, needed ESC specs, and battery needs and its ratings at 2 cell and 3 cell.. one of the good motors are to me from DYS company.. and to me and to my Colleagues these motors are words of trust, as we were using these marvels about two years rigourously.. and one of them failed.. here, for a good 48, 50 inch spanned carft need a good quality motor, rated at 880, to 1200 kv, sith a WATTAGE of 240 or more at least..  or you can search the hobby king for blue coloured bell type motors..

Title: Re: VERY GOOD BEGINNER PLANE
Post by: roopeshkrishna on June 01, 2012, 12:56:48 AM
to understand this difference we can check a simple example.. we are not entering in to any tecnical or electronical complications but a simple idea.. imagine you have a two stroke enginned off road bike with you, in 250 cc, and with 25 BHP.. high speed engine..
and you also have a big heavy duty truck, with a 24 cylinder, 1200 BHP, four 4 stroke diesel engine, intended to carry 100 ton of load.. then we have to put both of them in a test.. suppose, we having a gradient, with 30 degree slop, in to 2 km.. we draws a line, and the truck and bike are started, and standing in the line.. both are in warm up.. and now the whistle.. both in to 1st gear.. and what will we see..? the off road bike flies over the gradient with a violent speed.. and vanishes.. within seconds.. but truck wrooms in to life and climbs the gradient with slow manner.. feel anything.. ?  nothing..? ok.. go for a re check..
again.. both vehicles are in line again.. but this time both vehicles are coupled to a trailer, weighing 500 KGS each.. so, as the bike is coupled to the trailer, the rider need not to be on his lugs.. as it stands stable..  now whistle again.. this time what happen..? you can see the bike strains to pull the load, at high revs.. without any symptoms of moving.. and slowly, the clutch plates starts to burn.. engine heats up.. plug fouls.. and eventually.. engine fails.. but truck..? it will haul the 500 KGS with a breat.. and climbs the gradient with a song.. again.. again.. so, here the high speed machine was designed to haul a light load at high speeds.. while the heavy duty machine is designed to haul a huge load with ease, in slow speed.. so, here we need a heavy load pulling capacity, like our expalined truck.. it must pull the load along with a song in its lips.. while, the fast motor hauls a light load with small dia props for light weight high speed flying.. when you are experienced, you can simply choose any alternate for flying, or boating.. etc.. even then you must need a good motor with appropriate WATTAGE, with kv constant..

Banna the link you have given is wrong, according to u said cf2822.
and for the motor i can say that this is a very good motor with light weight and with much power. it is tested with more than 700 gm thrust. your plane was much lesser than that. I am using this motor from last one year, and do to my rough handling, it must have hit the ground more than 50 times , but still running fine. only after a very serious crash from 100 feet nose hit the bearing got damage .
Trust me , it is one of the most beautiful motor.

sure, this one need a good powerful motor and other electronics, for excellent flying.. the wing and landing gears are removable, with 4 screws, for easy transportation.. a wide track landing gear is provided for cool landins.. the structural weight is a little more than V2, because of the additional reinforcements.. for grusome flying..

While your intentions are entirely noble, this may not the right thing to do.  Medical advice (especially dealing with prescriptions) are best left to the people who are trained and qualified to do it.

I honestly wish the freight wasn't so much from India to Australia because I would love to own a plane built by this very dedicated gentleman. I would be more than happy to own a plane which has had so much work and effort put into it. Just from the photographs I can spot quality and know it would certainly turn many heads at the flying field. Even if I never flew it I would be proud just to own it. But this plane has been built to fly and I would immediately do so if I could. Stick to your price sir, I'm sure it's well worth what you ask. Don't drop your price to encourage new pilots. You aren't a charity. If someone wishes to enter the RC hobby game they should learn how much it costs. I did and never got any discount for being new.In fact I paid more than an experienced pilot.

Best wishes to you sir and I hope you sell many aircraft.  Kind regards  Stuart

Hello Everyone

Good news!

Roopesh Sir shipped the planes to our planes and we are ready to dispatch them as soon as we receive the consignment.
It was delayed mainly due to Roopesh's ill health and I spoke to him today and he told me that he is having a speedy recovery and will be back very soon.

Lets everyone pray for his speedy recovery as we are missing him a lot.

Thanks everyone for your support and kindness.

Regards
SAI KRISHNA

Dear Sir,

Am very much new to this subject though but have interests alike. I have gone thru the thread of discussions of your beginner's SUSAN V2 model.

Is it still under production and available? And is still your special offer for only 5 units open to opt? Price is really a deciding factor for newcomers like me I guess.
