RC India

In an effort to help local and Indian RC aeromodellors, i am sharing some Depron foam sheets also known as Biofoam sheets .

Specifications:
Sheet thickness is 5MM.
Colour white.
Size: 1000mmx650mm

About Depron
Depron is basically extruded polystyrene foam (XPS) with a closed cell structure.
Sheets can be cut easily with a sharp knife. Beveled and sanded easily.
2 Sheets can be stuck on top of each other to make it thicker.

Fevicol adhesive works well. So does Epoxy and Hot glue. Normal CA attacks the foam. Foam safe CA should be OK, but i havent tried it.

Much better than EPS sheets, Depron is a great RC plane building materiel. Lightweight, strong, cheap, easy to work with ( sand / bevel / paint etc ) .

Packaging
Available in 2 packages : 10 sheet and 20 sheet packs.
Sheets are large in size and fragile. To avoid damage, we have got a custom 7-PLy extra thick corrugated box made specially for this size of sheets.
The boxes itself cost a ton, so is sort of unviable to ship anything less than 10 sheets.

Will also be available at eBay. However pricing there would be approx 15% higher due to eBay fees.

Pricing
There are 2 Offerings, and prices are very fair, and i shall share openly the calculations:

1. Package of 10 Sheets.
Cost of each sheet : Rs 145.
10 Sheets : 1450/-
Box and packaging: 200/-
Total : 1650/-

2. Package of 20 Sheets.
Cost of each sheet : Rs 145.
20 Sheets : 2900/-
Box and packaging: 200/-
Discount: 200/-
Total : 2900/-

Shipping.
This is the toughest of all.
The boxes are huge in size (110cmx66cmx10cm) . and most private companies charge a volumetric fee.
Usually the volumetric weight comes to 12Kgs.

The actual mass weight is immaterial and is around 5-6 kgs ( i think )

Shipping via Indiapost parcel would be around Rs 300/- ( I estimate ). Will confirm after first order.
This would be surface transport

This would be surface transport. An additional cloth stitching would be done on the parcel. That cost goes on me.

Option 2:
Shipping via a private company surface like Trackon . This would be approx Rs 700/- per package


Conditions of sale:

-Only 10, and 20 sheet packages available. Nothing less please. It just doesnt work out.
-Orders will be shipped twice a week, probably Monday and Friday. Basically i drive down to the postoffice to send these huge boxes out.
- The sheets with me are in mint condition. THough i would like my customers to get it in the way i pack here, the shipping may cause some minor dents to the sides and corners. I dont expect much, since i have tried to invest in good packaging.
- There may be a very slight warp in the sheets. This is not a problem and is easily curable. Just put overnight under a flat surface.
Search RC groups for several threads to fix this easily.  The warp happens when we cut bigger sheets into sections and while packaging when strapping it together with the shrink wrap film.


I hope my efforts here, to bring this wonderful material to the RC aeromodellors of our country would be appreciated.

1mm to 2mm in A4 size, would that be possible? Tired of chopping thermocole plates...

At present only 5MM available with me.I may splice them into 2, to get around 2MM thickness , but thats something ill be doing later at some time.
