RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

I would have used the word "vintage" (or "classic" or something like that), instead of "old".  Using the word "old" makes them seem like old stock or used ?

Warbirds would be more apt. Seeing the subject I thought there would be some Vintage model kits, but only to see ARF's of Vintage A/c.
Any way the VQ range is solidly built. Those who remember my VQ Hawker Hurricane would know

1.for starters Focke Wolf into electric? all FW pilots will toss in their graves,
2.those who love Warbird models and have gone great lengths to put a 4s or RCV engines on them will kill VC.
3.Thirdly it is Blasphemy to do so,
4. Last but not the least, CG issues are very difficult to sort, unless you want that stupid motor to also carry Ballast as well.

I am a electric enthusiast, on a giant scale Focke Wolf an electric Motor? GGRRRRR >Cheesy

I Agree with you sir...after maximum 30 size for electrics.....After that you have to smell burning ,slimy, sticky Castor oil...
Or burn gasoline in the air

Gusty, I heartily agree to what you say, except #4. Actually when it comes to CG issues, electrics do have a huge advantage in the form of useful ballast each of them should carry and appropriate placement of this piece of ballast obviates use of any dead ballast which we slimers are forced to add to the nose of most of our warbirds.
Going by the experience of my Hurricane, one would anyway require plenty of lead upfront to balance these.
Here are two pictures to give you an idea what I had to do to move the CG at the correct location
1. First picture - A box built for the 2400 MaH battery as far forward as possible. You can detect the box just under the engine bearers, with two shiny screws for securing the box lid
2. Ply Plate added on one side of engine bearer and then lead weight secured to the plate

And BTW before someone asks, this model met its demise on the main runway just in front of FIS hangar

Thats gr8, just today, i did that to my slow stick , put the batt almost under the motor,
i was skeptical aabout the giant scale, did it balance CG ? could you put a smaller mah batt (I mean did you have the flexibility for the batt?). May the Hurricane's soul RIP, may have been a QFI ka sathaya hua Grin

PS
Thats what makes this discussions gr8, every hour and every day you are learnin more..

Gusty,
I needed weight in the nose, so went with the heaviest bty pack availble, yes in terms of current requirment I could have gone with a smaller pack but then would have had to add more lead.
Most large (i.e 40 size and above) warbirds end up needing additional weight in the nose to balance. Therefore when you are powering with electric setup, you have the flexibility of moving the battery pack to a suitable location to reduce dead weight as much as possible

The FIAT looks absolutely sexy. If only I could clean - or at least thin - out my hangar of the "yet to be assembled/built" models!

tKC
Thanks for bringing childhood memories of Sound of Music back to life, we did this in a inter school play, and of course "Hello Dolly' brings more naughty memories from the Staff College.

"Doe (Depending on experience) Pay", shortened to doe, can also be used i thought  Huh?,

Doe (the Deer) ? Something similar was my first 2 ship callsign, back in the early nineties. Grin
