With almost every cellphone having a cam today, a detailed photo of such items, highlighting any existing damage/nick is a good practice. See the Buy Sell forum on RCuniverse/Rcgroups.

I would be better if make this rule as an imperitive for our Buy Sell section. If personal inspection is not feasible (though I consider it a buyer's right), a potential buyer deserves photos.

Anwar, Your Rule #2 is perfect, and we just need it  made a requirement instead of 'Best Practice'.  Where ever there is a need for exception (like selling Software/Gift Coupon etc) , the seller may put in foot note so that. Else such possible troublesome sales should be blocked for betterment of new comers (and I bet large no of casual college kids fall prey).

Another way to do things :

Appoint two or three people in various locations in India ( preferabbly forum member with decent credibility... Let the seller ship the item for sale to the appointed person at the closest location from the buyer ... also the buyer will transfer /send the money to the appointed person... The appointed person will do quality check of the item and also ensure that the money is recieved post which he will transfer the goods to the buyer and the money to the seller....

I know this demands alot but for sure is a fool proof method

Why don't we instead keep membership forms which is genuine
1.  Submit Documents to Some Appointed members ..
2.  Documents Submitted should be attested by Gazetted Officers
3.  Documents should include Photo Graph , Valid id proof and Address Proof (like the Passport copy Etc)
4. Members should be allowed to put sale items only after some required number of posts (eg 100)
   This may involve more work but if the work is divided it might be easy
moreover this method (above 3) is used to procure digital signature (class 3)

Good way, but too much work for "once in a year" issues.

None of this is needed   No other forum in the world works that way, YET they all work.  It only takes good feedback mechanism, and a strong will by anyone affected to drag the offending party to courts/police (especially with a "cyber" charge), and everyone will be back to their natural senses !

I have initiated a formal compaint (cyber law case) ... and will be posting the events as and when they happen ....

I want the forum to be as welcoming as possible. At the same time I want it to be clean. Most people will post pictures, because they know that is what they would want for themselves !  It is about being in the other person's shoes.  Let us not be uptight on these issues, I have a fair bit of faith in "everything happens for the better"

Divay - There is no point in banning accounts. The technical reasons for which I have clarified before.  And I have even mentioned why the status quo might be beneficial to you.  In fact, you should have PMed me the above post.

I am little disappointed at how such obvious aspects did not register !
