@aero engine,

Welcome to the forum. Noticed that you joined just 2 weeks ago.
I moved this thread to the appropriate board (instead of the Sales board where you posted it)

You may have no option but to search for a replacement display. I’m trying but haven’t found any yet.

Perhaps Mr Girish Sarwal has some suggestions...

See my next post about a similar problem.

BTW, I saw that you were asking about a DLE 55 on Herdmay1’s sale thread.
He has not responded to anyone in the last 3 months.
I’ve requested him to respond or close his thread.

Regards

@girishsarwal,

Some years back, Saikat sir was disposing off a Hitec Optic6 Tx/Rx for a token amount.
The reason was faded display, which renders the Tx useless.

I bought it as a potential source of future spares for my 2006 Optic6, which I’m still using with an FrSky 2.4 module and 4 Rxs (2 telemetry)

Recently it occurred to me that I’d have a fine radio, if I could replace the display.
I found replacements. Costing about £24, or over Rs 2000 + postage.

Is the replacement easy to do, or does it need special skills?
Is it worth the effort and expense?

Please advise.
Regards

@iyer sir,

i haven't tore down a hitec optic yet to know what's the deal inside but most of these LCDs are connected using a flat ribbon cable that sits in a plastic connector that can be pried open with fingernails really. I'd say if you'd really like to hold on to the radio, its worth the effort. however, if you're really brand agnostic, and given the radios age, that amount could certainly help with buying one of the newer radios which are very effectively featured today.

@aero, the link was dysfunctional but that i could figure out from the url that its an frsky x9d screen. Off the top of my head i do not think it will be a drop in replacement for your JR. It is best to contact the manufacturer for a spare part or ask them for the OEM part number so it can be availed from some other sources.

Thanks Girish sir. Not really worth it - just seems a pity to waste a nice tx/rx...
