Yashodhan, I'll be honest here. RCI members are not too familiar with you as a seller. Similar kits are available at near comparable prices from LHS who we have grown to trust over the years. No one is doubting your intentions, however, they may be sceptical.

It would help if you were to reduce prices and start with minimal zero profit. Make that very clear on the forum that you will have to hike up prices after a few sales so as to break even. Don't forget to factor in packaging materials + postage in the prices. Use Speedpost to cut down costs. Offer rock bottom prices for Calcutta based modellers. Build trust first. Don't lose hope - these things take time.

My 25 paise (long time since I last saw that coin) bit of advice.

I've sent you some boat plans and hope to be your first customer.

Regards.

ps. For around Rs.5 or 6 K + shipping, one can buy a number of 1 metre span High Wingers with motor, ESC, Servos and prop from a reputed LHS. Ready to fly in less than 15 minutes. Why should I ( beginner) want to spend 2500 on a bare balsa kit that I will have to build and cover and do all the hard work (at least 7 days of labour) and then be unsure if it will fly at all??? ARF kits are much more affordable and almost 'Readymade'.

Therefore, my friend, you have to reduce prices and sell in numbers. Hope you take this in the right spirit.

All the best!

Btw, how much for the 50" span Balsa Glider without the CF tube?

BTW, what does one get when he buys these kits? What all is included? Just the laser cut pieces that require complete assembly and covering  or will the wings, fuselage and stabilisers come built up and covered? What exactly are you providing?

I am keeping an absolutely tiny profit margin to myself VC ji (will need to sell atleast 50 to break even with my investment) (The profit margin is purely to cover up the time invested in cadding it out). The tail structures and wing will be in kit form.
You are cent percent correct about RTF models being available at much cheaper rates. And they dont take up too much time either as compared to kit building and also about me being a new seller ;D.

If at all i reduce prices it can be by Rs. 150-200 each ATMOST (reducing the wastage factor, keeping 0 profit etc.)

All the kits would contain all the accessories (wheels, landing gear, mounts for nitro etc) and cellophane to cover it.
I think i shall put the online sale on hold now.Let me try reducing my prices wherever i can(bargaining with my friend for laser cutting so that his rates go down a bit, conserving more balsa)

I would request you guys to give me a day or two to give you the final quotes for the models.

As for the glider it shall cost around 1600 excluding carbon fiber.
I have sent a PM to you @VC Ji

So for now the sale is on temporary hold. Till new prices come up.

As for your boats they are doing very well :D  (The Sea Princess layups have been completed as you know, the Mystic C5000 will be done today :P)

Regards

Yash, since you are rather adroit at converting PDF to CDR and you do have access to a Laser, why don't you offer us your services, at a cost, of providing any kit that we need?

We send you the files, you convert and cut them - scale them up or down depending on the size of the model that we want to build - we get a kit in hand. We happy, you rich!

Btw, I am delighted with what you have done for my Sea Princess.

Since you are giving away with engine mount and all accessories including covering film seems reasonable for the small scale attempt. All the best waiting for your further update.

@VC that seems like a better idea ;D. I have no problems in doing it that way.
i think that would be the right way to go :D

Thank you so much for your support and for having faith in me :) :)

Just had a long chat with Sandy. As advised by him, you have to be careful about 2 things:

1. Perfect alignment before cutting. Nothing more frustrating than having a set of laser cut parts that don't notch in smoothly during assembly.

2. As far as aircraft models are concerned, be careful while scaling the plans up or down. The integrity of the structure has to be maintained and the altered spans / chords must result in perfect flight characteristics. You may have to compensate or else the model may not fly as well or fly at all. Boats are not such a big problem, the only issue may be the number of hull bulkheads - we may have to add extra to maintain the shape and integrity.

All the best!

@VC both points can be taken care of easily.  If the wingspan is given, it can be scaled up or down without any issues.  Including but not limited to increasing/decorating, increasing material thickness, ensuring chord is ideal for the wingspan etc.

However one must be slightly flexible and agree to slight variations in dimensions  (47 inches instead of 48) since sometimes very weird measurements are achieved on scaling that is complex for both sides to comprehend (I recently scaled down a CAD Kaos to 42" , the spars became 3/8 x 3/32) which is hopeless.

This is how i notch parts. All the parts are first made, then virtually assembled to check for accuracy, once the corrections are made, then only do i get it laser cut.

Perfect, waiting for updates.

When you are done maybe some of the senior aero modellers here will share a build log & a first hand assesment of your kit(s). What could be a better promo than that ? I have seen them offering to do it after buying the kit and advising on any changes "if" needed and that too on their own free will and time !!

If I am not wrong then those pictures you have uploaded they are not your models and also not made from your kits. I don't think have you even build any model yet completely from your own kit which has made successful flight. But it will be nice if someone start selling good kits in India.  :)

But our club doesn't help any members who are into commercial business. So if you’re planning to do any business then you have to be your own, from our club you won't get any kind of help and support.  :(
