Re: Any budy have Z-bend plier?
I use Taparia and Pye make Nose pliers and long nose pliers only.
However for tempered wire (Steel) pushrod (like Spoke of cycle, Umbrella etc) you have requested to make hot before bending so that the temper of the steel reduce in that part and a good bend generate. Else even you use Z bend pliers, crack may occur at bends.

I do have the Great Planes one... the red one in the second pic... but it is lying with my friend who has gone for a vacation. anyway, how you think you gonna get access unless you have some having it in your town.
Good thing to have, as Kalyan said, dont use with tempered steel.
Kalyan Da, I have been totally forgetful about the umbrella rods.. been using the cycle spokes all the time.. Thanks again!!!

Re: Any budy have Z-bend plier?
Umbrella rods are not my creadit. It's from Saikatda.
And I am totally agree with him that every hobby thing is the items we know, just reshapped, packed and sold to us with minimum double price.
A few years back when horlicks introduced Pipe and prop (they said it Heli) come as free items it priced only 50 paisa and 1 rupee for small and large size (5" and 8").
And you can even make rubber plane with them, though duration will not be so much for their weight, but still balanced. Similar, Bulsa cutting rubber mats = Rubber conveyer belt, Bulsa = Architecture student Balsa / Naval wood supplier ..and similar.. all the things.
Actually quantity is the criteria that reduces other overhead per item.
A few days earlier, I have talked with a large plastic firm that makes the most reputed battery container and they told me that precise prop can be manufactured that even need no balancing adjustment required (or <3% require sanding / cutting) but the metal mould price will not be recovered even if we can manufacture 1000 prop. The machine Bed is 11 mts x 3 mts and can mould 300kg per day. They have similar 6 nos of machines. But making ball press may be cost effective for low volume supply. But those we declare that low or no demand, china makes that and still flooded with that items and we see I have also bought that.

Economy of Scale rule industerial production. Otherwise, hand made products are much, much more costlier than factory made (in large, large quantity). Just to remind you, the Lego block metal 'Die' cost some where around USD 200,000 each (
1 carore).
I would disagree with your inference of "Bulsa = Architecture student Balsa / Naval wood supplier ". Yes they are all kind of light wood, Balsa is among one family, but each have a different characteristics. Student Balsa has no strength are easily sandable. Naval wood has immense strength but harder to chisel. Model Aircraft Balsa have property of both.
I do agree that Hobby stuff are almost twice to thrice over priced. But wont you agree that they have consumption of 1/1000 than other tools you see in local machinery market.

Its a 'Good to have' tool. I think most of us start with doing it Plier way. But once you use the bender, you just love it.
Reminds me the explanation of 'Machines' by Amir Khan in 3 Idiots. A machine is a device which makes people life easy.

"Good to have tool" is only good if it is really needed. I mean if somebody is building things too frequently and need to save time and have sharp quality.
For somebody who works on a model only once in a long period "Jugaad" is the way to go. We should be able to work out with the tools available around us. This is just my opinion. Others may or may not agree with this.

Correct. Its plain 'Good to Have Tool' and not 'Too Good to Have Tool' , or 'Must have tool'
These tools are 'Buy once' kind of item. You cannot say that it is a bad tool, or investing in it is 'Foolish'.
I get much sharper result, with 100% success. It even bends tempered 'Spring' steel wire, a bit nasty to bend using two pairs of nose pliers. I also found that the result from this tool have lesser slop than pliers one.
You would not feel its use unless you have it. Once you have it, you wont like to miss it.

Re: Any budy have Z-bend plier?
Johny i have both, i like the method shown in the video, personal choice though, i like to go beyond 90 deg. normal plier and long nose is crisper than z bend plier, (Atleast better than my z bend) normal plier method also gives you varying arms , double z (For push rod based trimming) , w bends etc, once again, personal choice and how many z bends will you do in your life, 200 ,400 max for 400 crimps do you require one tool? that is the question. well you can apply this logic to lot of other things and there i will loose, and you will win, no doubt on that

Re: Any budy have Z-bend plier?

a good nose plier and some piece of wire to practice.
i learnt it the hard way.

Re: Any budy have Z-bend plier?
Making Z bends is really a pain in the neck. Especially with large dia. wires. I prefer 90 degree L bends and snap on pushrod connectors.
