IN THRUST WE TRUST.....!!

please start a new thread for ur build log....

ADMIN NOTE: a separate board  for build logs for the time period of the sweep stakes would be helpful in tracking the up coming builds....

i am enjoying the way people have started taking up building and posting build logs..... ALL THE BEST to everyone...

L'enfant Terrible du RCIndia

May I request all members / modellers to use the word/s 'Scratch' and 'Scratch Building' with a wee bit of caution and a lot of reverence. There is 'Building from a plan' and there is 'Assembling a kit - RTF / ARF', 'Kit bashing'  and there also exists, on a totally different platform, 'Scratch Building'.

Scratch building essentially means working from pictures, photographs, line diagrams etc, without taking the help of a published / available build plan and building the model out of conventional / non conventional modelling supplies and equipment. This type of modelling is again is classified into 'Non Scale', 'Semi - Scale' and finally, the most exalted, 'True Scale Scratch Building'. The latter is seldom, if ever,  seen on this forum. The difference between Non/Semi scale Scratchbuilts and True Scale Scratchbuilts is that of chalk and cheese in terms of research, effort and international acceptance.

I hope I have ruffled some feathers.

Agree with VC.The distinction is important.  A simple prefix in the build title should help. However, I do feel it should not bias any participation criteria or judgement.Everyone's effort is to be counted. Spad and balsa alike. A liberal view, on everyone's skill level, should be enough for one's participation. Kit bashing too requires a lot of skill on mix n match. I hope I've put my opinion in the right perspective.   Smiley. Although the rewards are lucrative, I feel most of us are doing this for that achievement factor

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

The rules are very clear within the first post itself, with added clarification in the subsequent few posts.

BTW, what exactly is a scratch built heli ?  It would make a lot more sense if you post your build thread, then ask whether it qualifies.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

I was skeptical about organizing the sweepstakes this way when I started off.  But seeing how the RC India community has responded, I am absolutely thrilled about this choice, and I wanted to thank everyone for participating.  Glad to see so many builds, especially the scratch/plan ones.

Thanks to everyone who is participating, and wish you all good luck Thumbs Up

PS: Please do make the dates clear on newspaper articles.  I would like the whole thing to be fair and transparent, as much as possible.

L'enfant Terrible du RCIndia

Just added this to the original post :

"Additional Note 1:  Anyone who does a scratch/plan build of airplanes will be listed thrice in the list from which the draw will be done. That will increase his chances of winning."

I had decided to ignore this thread, but it seems to be rather lucrative now. >Cheesy

I have a few questions :

1. If one were to build a scale boat model (30" length +) based on an available plan, what would be weightage? How many times would you list that?

2. What about anyone who does a scratch SCALE BUILD WITHOUT plans build of a Cabin Cruiser boat (36" +) ? Will you list it 6 times? Huh?

3. What about a Hexacopter with a camera ( camera footage will be supplied as proof)  based upon NO plans / PURE scratch build? What weightage would you give to that?

4. If  person achieved all 3 of the above ,within the stipulated time, would you still call for a draw (lucky draw) of lots or would you award him the prizes?

What I want to know is that is this award based only on Luck or do Skill and Effort have a part to play? Please don't be diplomatic in your answer - if you answer at all Mr. Administrator.

Regards.

Information sharing improves knowledge of both.

I think only 2 filter is here.

1. If he can make RC craft that perform (Can participate)
If yes, he can take ticket of this lottery.
2. If he can make target output taking decision which plan to build? What model? .....
If yes, he can get 3 ticket.

But I an worried about If I open up a complete plane, picture ref. for start, assemble, then paint/color.

... OR...

Take a few snaps for making a clone during midpath and then take snaps of disambled of earlier plane and then post. (In fact 1 complete pre built and one half complete merged in between time scale.)

Tough for the decision maker. Specially when our picture up-loader reduce original image and reduce clarity. Remember, all are making and taking snaps, But the judgement day is vital for posters.

What will be if I made and cannot fly at last day due to weather ?
Everything has some drawback and advantages. I think you have not forgotten about the model boat forum www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk case. That is why Anwar sir takes the total responsibility of his own. Special detectives appointed, coolers added (cool head is a must for Model makers).

Let us SWEAR that we will not cheat with our beloved forum

And anwar sir, please mention the date ref. request in this thread as if any of build thread later checked by outer world, they can either confuse or mis-judge. I think referring the thread to here may be the best option.

We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.
