Post by: anwar on November 21, 2013, 08:55:25 PM
This thread is opened as requested by multiple forum members to highlight deeds of kindness demonstrated from time to time by our members in support of other members and this hobby.

It is a way of saying THANK YOU in public.

Oh my God! I have an endless list, just don't know where to start........................so many people to thank. Let me reserve this slot and edit it later.

Not trying to apple polish here, but Anwar Sahab's is the first name that comes to my mind. Had it not been for him and RCI, exactly 4 years ago, I wouldn't be where I am. On this date, 4 years ago, I did not even possess a single Transmitter.

Here is the 4th post on this forum - barring the exception of remaining a 'beginner', so much has changed since then.............

"Can someone suggest a really cheap 3 or 4 channel RC Tx and Rx set for a submarine / boat?

I am scratchbuilding a submarine and need it to control the Diveplanes, The Rudder and the Motor.

The range has to be between 50 to 100 metres and should be able to control 3 mini servos.

I am an absolute beginner as far as RC is concerned. Please HELP!!!"

And then Saikat gifted my my first Tx, an old Futaba 6 Ch. Even though I never used it and eventually returned it, it was my first ever Transmitter.

Standing tall in my list of people who have performed "deeds of kindness" is Sujjubhai - his gifts have continued over the years.

I rarely use my personal id as from past 2 plus years mostly my involvement here has been from the RcBazaar id... however I write again from my personal id to thank this forum and each one of you for making this hobby more knowledgeable and enjoyable... gone are the days where we used to literally hunt to get info on this hobby... and yes this forum has definitely been a large part to the launch of RcBazaar and its spread in the country... I took some time here to hunt this self explanatory 3 plus year old thread http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/manufacturing-of-helis-and-aero-engines-and-kits-in-india/msg26226/#msg26226 (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/manufacturing-of-helis-and-aero-engines-and-kits-in-india/msg26226/#msg26226) ...

Thanks to anwar for initiating this and everyone here for their inputs in making this hobby more accessible in India.

Regards
Sujju

Oh I have a long, long list!

But in essence,

1. RC India & Anwar-bhai  :salute: :salute:. After being out of the hobby for over 25 years, it got me back. I made good friends through it. When posted to Mumbai, through RC India I contacted fellow flyers, and not only started flying again, but made some good friends . Similarly when I came back to Gurgaon .

2. The local LHS's. For one who started his RC Flying in the 80's, the experience of having a choice of places to get our RC Goodies was unbelievable! I had never seen a Linkage Stopper before  ;D ;D

I don't think I will be able to list everyone here because of the sheer number of people who have helped me over the years. Nevertheless here is my list, in no particular order : BTW please add (bhaiya) after every name, except for Kalyan Da :P
Unfortunately, although I'm associated with airplanes, I hardly find time to do justice to the hobby but I think I should be finally free in a month or two.

Ritesh (Sethji) - Was the first forum member whom I met during our search for the elusive depron/biofoam in kolkata, helped me with things outside the hobby domain. Thank You so much.
Kalyan Da - Too many reasons (ps : sorry for the boring lectures :P) Have to build something this winter together.
VC - Too many reasons. Had a wonderful time last year, would love to meet again sometime.
Gusty - Again too many reasons, Aerodynamics being one big reason (you got me into it and now i keep boring other people :P) and having invited me to my first RC event (at Kgp)
RcD, RcB (Sujju Sir), Rcelectro (VK Singh), Anam (Rchobbyaddict), Vineet (hobbysea), hellyflyer, foamybuilder, Sandeep bajare, Bhavesh - Purchased something or the other from them. Wonderful experience, no complaints.

Sorry if I have missed anyone, I'll edit this if I can remember some more names.

A inspiring giant who is rather inactive on the forum these days - Ashta Sir - a Mentor and a guide.

Sai Sir - RCforall - stood by me and replaced models broken in transit free of charge - gave away a whole load of goodies to the students of AVS and ensured that my workshop was a grand success.

Adiboy and VK Singh - not just suppliers - friends.

Lance Theleabres - for selling me some models at less than throwaway prices.

Xantos - for the wonderful Heli fuselage and treasure trove of magazines (on the way and should reach me soon)

This list could go on and on. If I stop now, I may be either labelled an ingrate. I am even prepared to accept that. However, if this list gets any more exhaustive and thereafter someone finds his name missing, it may be a bitter pill to swallow.

However, there are a few names of members who are just a phone call away. They patiently listen / advice and stand by me. They share notes and some of them procure stuff for me not only for monetary benefits. They are friends. I won't share those names here. You don't thank friends. I wouldn't be where I am without them.

I never intended this to be a "thank you for being alive" thread. This was meant more to be a place to highlight people who went beyond what is generally expected of them on a forum like this.  Cases where someone sent another member something he was looking for without taking money, someone who takes an absolute newcomer in his car to a field and shows him around etc.

We all help each other, that IS EXPECTED of one another just by being members here (or any forum like this).  It is going beyond the call of duty that needs to be highlighted specifically.

Finally, I started this forum for purely selfish reasons (at the time, at least), and I still struggle with keeping a fair balance of control and freedom here.

Thank you to RCproduct.in for wrongly mailing me a FRSKY receiver module worth 4000 rupees, thank them also for not realizing this, I did tell them that i had received a wrong order whilst i had not ordered anything from them in ages. but that was that, i since sent it back and requested the owner to just send me simple heatshrink or m3 screws, would be kind of silly to expect him to deposit the 100 rupees i had used to make sure the package got to him. I thank that shop for not replying to my subsequent inboxes, says alot. mxxxm

Yep, it is time for thanking RCI! without this platform, I would have remained in stone age aeromodelling skills and lost a fortune to get updated. And not to forget my favourite sub-forum, 'For Sale', to help me in getting the needed stuff to [re]start with the hobby. Well almost restarted, but a pause for now.

As the community is aware, I had been hibernating for a while. I am now well and truly back in the hobby. Over the last month, nearly a dozen gliders have been crafted and work has started on another PT 109 thanks to Dodgy Geezer. This one is going to be 30" in length (plans enlarged to 150%).

The Hexacopter was maidened by Pravesh on Wednesday and I dare say it proved to be a stable flyer. However, ANYTHING in Pravesh's hands is a stable flyer. Thanks Pravesh for coming over and setting it up and also completing the Quad for me. All your efforts paid off.

The Quadcopter was maidened yesterday by me. Not bad, needs some more tweaking. Not posting pictures here as she is, shall we say, rather colourful.

Thanks also to Nairit for being there and guiding me through all my projects - sometimes practically, sometimes patiently digesting my ramblings.

There is a proud pleasure to be felt when you learn from kids who are old enough to be your sons. Their experiential  knowledge base is way beyond.

Thank you boys!
