Apart from this one more reason which is difficult to notice if not observed .

Due to caster-oil fermentation fine fibers can lead your engine behave erratic . this is from my real time experience with OS 70 FS. be care full to check your fuel mixture every time before you fly .

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

this is an old saying from the indian aviation world and the saying is in hindi. loosely translated it means "..all boils down  to 'fuel' 'air' & 'Fire'.

How caster oil fermentation happens ? here is the possible way .

1. when u buy castor oil from medical shop there is no worry at all ,,it is manufactured and packed nicly . Bow Giggle

2. cost of 100 ml medicated caster oil is Rs. 55 ( for an aeromodeller it might be on higher side ) Bang Head

3. in Kerala from the ayurvedic herbal shops ,raw caster oil can be brought  1000 ml.for rs. 60  so most of them go for the cheapest Head Scratching one which is not filtered or treated ,, by doing a conventional filtering the raw casteroil will turn into our fav lubricant .  Hats Off

problem is with the fuel which is made from this kinda castor oil mix ,, the solution for rectifying the problem is once in 3 weeks the entire fuel need to be filtered , which i believe is not a herculean task .

Hope this information helps .

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

better thing to do is mix it only the amount you need for flying, never keep mixed fuel for so long

Medical shop castor oil is cold pressed and filtered therefore is almost colourless . Ideal lube for our engines is first pressed commercial castor which should be very pale yellow i've had no luck finiding this locally however. Dark yellow castor is solvent pressed commercial grade and if it has not been degummed no amount of filtering is gonna make it better and it will eventually gum up your engine, this has been my understanding. So what kind of filtering are you talking about sir?

My question was how do you "check your fuel mixture"?
