Recently purchased a TT46 pro, and was wondering if 2stroke engine oil can be used instead of castor oil.
I won't be looking to add Nitro, so it's just going to be a mix of methanol and 2S oil.
Please suggest!

NO.
Based on my experience.
However,
Please try a sample, and see if it separates after a while...

If you are new to glow engines, you have twochoices:
1. Go with known fuels/mixtures
2. Try your own combos

Let us know the results if you use 2stroke oil...
Regards

As Iyer sir said :  NO

Oneof the important functions of the oil in a glow engine (apart from lubrication) is to carry the developed heat away without breaking down.

This is why castor is preferred - it can be used at high temperatures without breaking down chemically. Effective heat removal is critical - if not done properly the engine will overheat and cut out, or worse, seize!

All the above + the common 2T oils will not mix with methanol

Best quality of castor oil is that it comes out from exhaust as it is.

Touch the Sky with Glory and Land back safely

I know that Castor Oil is efficient and cost effective.  But was curious to know, whether any alternative oil (may be engine oil) can be used with methanol for glow engines ?

Synthetic oils (with some Castor Oil percentage) are available eg http://www.klotzlube.com/radio_control_.html. But for breaking in a new engine, ensure some percentage of Castor Oil, as recommended by all engine manufacturers
