Title: Does anyone know why branded fuel is not available in India ?
Post by: anwar on March 17, 2009, 10:02:18 PM
Why are nitro fuel brands like Morgan (Cool Power), Byron, Wildcat, Tornado are not available (or easily available) in India ?

Is it for economic reasons, or for legal reasons ?

Tornado is available with model art.

Being hazardous material, shipping is a headache most dealers don't want to take up. I'm not sure of import regulations about fuel. I think best way is to import just the lubricant. We get methanol and nitro at a decent price (provided we buy in bulk) compared to branded fuels. Also cost is high compared to home brew stuff.

Makes sense.

There are some significant advantages with branded fuel.  Most people on our field in Qatar have been using Morgan Cool-Power, and one significant advantage with this fuel is the lack of need for "after-run" maintenance.  Even if one flies infrequently, there is no need to take any special care of the engines, because of the additives present in many of these brands.

I totally agree with rotorzone, its the high shipping price involved.
The best way is to buy Klotz or morgan synthetic oil and mix our own fuel.  This is the way i'm doing since 2 years or so.
