i have a cox surestart 049 engine.... i am new to engine driven airplanesis it possible to control the speed of the engine without throttle conversion...or is there a throttle valve near me ? please help

no these are control line or free-flight engines, if you need speed control throttle mod is the way!

never run your cox inside, needs good ventilation  ;D

have you broken in your motor ? why don't you try making the throttle body  ;D

@rajji You will always fly fast and once you are dead stick glide and land safely.  :giggle:

Sure we/anyone can built a carb with a throttle, but
Can't help wondering when we'll attain the standard of workmanship shown by Leroy Cox /Bill Atwood over 50 years ago.
There's a guy i don't know and haven't met, called pline on this forum...

Iyer Sir, I would agree with you on that. Hats of to the creativity of the man, that engine design will last a century if not more.

An exhaust restrictor may be easier to make.

I am using a Nitro fuel mixed with 20% Castor oil
